Robert Stacy McCain, who blogs at The Other McCain, has some economically founded criticism of the stimulus plan pork bill and offers a prescription for Republicans if theyre plannng on keeping the Democrats* feet to the fire.
It Still Wont Work
American Spectator
By Robert Stacy McCain on 2.9.09
The real problem with the stimulus bill is not that it is too big (although it is too big) nor its various objectionable ingredients (although many are objectionable), but rather that it is based on a false economic theory.
The American people did not vote for the false theories of the past, Obama assured his listeners Thursday. Yet the economic recovery plan pushed by Pelosi and other Democrats is nothing but Keynesian theory in postmodern drag, elegantly costumed by the Orator-in-Chief with a lot of glittering generalities about modernizing our health care system 21st century classrooms and end[ing] the tyranny of oil in our time.
This plan is not a Change We Can Believe In and, as I wrote two months ago, before Obama was inaugurated, it wont work.

McCain simply has no credibility with me.
Only significant, permanent, and sustained tax cuts will pull us out of this mess. Those tax cuts should be skewed towards the rich, not the poor, as they are the people who invest, create new jobs, and keep this economic engine working. Anything else is smoke and mirrors. (I’m a retired teacher and not rich by any measure.)
The article is not from John McCain, if that is the one whom has "no credibility" with you.
Otherwise,
Recently circulated by McCain has been this petition;
I cannot and do not support the package on the table from the Democrats and the Obama Administration. Our country does not need just another spending bill, particularly not one that will load future generations with the burden of massive debt. We need a short term stimulus bill that will directly help people, create jobs, and provide a jolt to our economy.

You don't have to sign it, but many of us here have.
You'll have more credibility, yourself, when you show greater evidence of something more than just knee-jerk reaction to the name "McCain".
I”m having a better day than McCain is, BD...(chuckle)
Glad to hear it. If we could all only have a really good day, and see Porkulus slain. I don't care who kills it. Just kill it dead, period.
Meanwhile, the Republican opposition should make every effort to clearly state their objections, shining bright spotlights upon the partisan pork this bill is loaded with, regardless of whether or not this bill passes.
Did you read the linked article? Or go to American Spectator to read the article directly? Written by Robert Stacy McCain. Or as he bills himself, the other McCain. It seemed a well reasoned article, to me. Not a bad day for him. More like he offers some additional clarity on the issue.
I am heartened to see that many authors are doing well stating the case(s) for opposing this gargantuan high-jacking of the budgetary process.
I do hope that enough Democrat Party supporting voters open their eyes, and begin to see the importance (an superiority of) capital "C" conservatism.
I'll not be holding my breathe waiting, though. Neither will I be withholding my own words and opinions. I'll hammer them all the day long...
They groan when they see me coming. :^)
It won’t be killed.

Still, we must continue to fight on. Actions by government are not written in stone. They can be reversed. And if not, then those whom err, can made to pay a steep political price, as well they should be.
It's been nice chatting with you. Gotta go...
Likewise, take care.
