Sullenberger is interviewed by Katie Couric and describes what it was like that day when he had to land Flight 1549 in the Hudson River. The piece also shows Sullenberger at a gathering of the grateful passengers, expressing their gratitude to him and the entire flight crew. The video is of the entire 60 Minutes program. Katie Couric asked her usual host of moronic questions.
Interesting that the flight attendant in the rear suffered the most.
She just stated that a panicked passenger opened the rear door allowing water to rush in. At one point she was in water up to her neck. Despite two tries she was unable to completely close the door.
She was the one person on the plane who was injured and required hospitalization.
From her appearance it would seem she is ready to retire.
Say what you will about the interviewer, but I found it some of the most compelling TV I’ve seen in a while. The story is just incredible.
I was teary throughout the interview with the pilot & his family. I hope to see & hear more from that man in the future.
