Because you don't "just rent a few trucks and haul it up there." Most of these villages are so isolated the only way to reach them is by air, which is prohibitively expensive. Sometimes the weather conditions are so bad the planes can't fly for long periods of time, and supplies run very short.

So, now it's the task of the all-good Nanny State to provide for people who freely chose to live way out in frozen Yaboo land. Well, why not, the Nanny State is taking everything else over too.

Okay, have them come down and get the food. Why are they running out of food? Are they not allowed to hunt and fish? Why blame the governor for people starving? How did they survive up there before government planes?
