You may find this hard to believe, but I am a Bruce Springsteen fan. I may not come across as someone who would enjoy his music, but from "For You," "Backstreets," "Darkness On The Edge of Town," "The Promise" to "The River," "Nebraska," "Tougher Than The Rest," "I Wish I Were Blind" and "Radio Nowhere," I can find plenty to recommend of the man's music. His new album Working On A Dream, the stillborn title track and "Outlaw Pete" aside, is the best thing he's cut in years.
But that half-time show at the Super Bowl--12 excruciating minutes--puts me in an indefensible position to the people who I've been trying to convert for all these years. Now they'll never listen to me.
Since this is LIST OF THE DAY, I will present to you in list form my reasons for why this was an abomination.
10) Bruce addresses the TV camera and tells everyone to drop the guacamole dip and chicken fingers to join him.
9) He opens with "Tenth Avenue Freezeout."
8) There were too many people on the stage.
7) Bruce had to sneak in the title track to his new album.
6) Bruce sneaks in a gospel choir for two minutes.
5) Bruce changes the reference from baseball to football in "Glory Days."
4) Bruce has a referee come out and declare it "Boss Time."
3) Bruce has apparently joined "Up With People."
2) He sticks poor Clarence on COWBELL.
1) Bruce makes me wish there had been a wardrobe malfunction.

My 12 year old niece asked me “why didn’t they get someone good”, followed by “why did they pick an old guy?” and topped it all off with “look, all that jumping around made him so out of breath he can’t even finish his notes”. I was laughing so hard beer went up my nose...
Reason 11: He treats soldiers like sh!t.
I know, personal experience when guarding Fort Monmouth after 9/11 and Bruce and crew were using the Pruden Auditorium to rehearse for “The Rising” tour.
DON’T YOU KNOW WHO I AM???
Prick.
Springsteen=J.A.C.I.
Just Another Celebutard Idiot.
To which my response would be: "Yeah, the same old no-talent prick you've always been."
Well, that’s depressing!
I’d still rather Ted than Springsteen.
bttt
Okay.
I remember the first time I ever heard of Bruce Springsteen. It was because he had accomplished a first in public relations/marketing by having his photo appear on the cover of Time and Newsweek magazine in the same week.
Bruce Springsteen releases Born to Run, makes the covers of Newsweek and Time, October 27, 1975
You mean you didn’t include the fact that he said “I’m going to DisneyLand” to top your list? Talk about a sell out. Surprised he wasn’t wearing a Cheeto’s hat.
We shut the TV off during halftime to avoid listening to another voice for Hussein.
My favourite answer:
No? Why? Have you forgotten? Do you need medical help? Should I call 9-1-1?
LOL!!! That was the worst halftime show since, I don't know, Paul McCartney? Tom Petty was awesome last year (or whenever that was). They're running out of old guys to put in half time. Any year now it's going to be, "Who the hell is that?" for me.
Bruce what’s-his-name just looks like someone’s old, fat, drunk uncle making a fool out of himself at a wedding reception while the real band is talking a break.
I redeemed my time ... I got 4 chainsaw blades sharpened and got back 13 seconds into the third quarter ... time well spent ... off to the woods, now.
I watched Andy Griffith and the quarreling couple.
Last year- Tom Petty- was better
“His music sucks”
Agreed. Springsteen = overrated.
I wanted Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band to sound good, but I have to say they just didn’t. The only really good song they performed was Born to Run. The studio version of this song is awesome, and sounds so good on the radio, but at the halftime performance, it didn’t sound nearly as good. Maybe there were technical limitations on what kind of sound they could get on the field, because I’m not sure why it sounded so bad in comparison.
Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto.
I didn't mute the TV, though. I changed the channel and took a shower.
