I'm not certain how I got an Cantor's mailing list, but I do get some good info from him. I wanted to share his reasons for voting against the bill.
Yesterday, when the roll was called, I voted against the misnamed economic stimulus plan which ultimately passed the House.
The American economy is hurting and that means Americans are hurting. Middle class families are being hit with continuing layoffs and our retirement and college savings are being ravaged by the markets.
We should be acting boldly to preserve, protect and create jobs. We should cut taxes on small businesses and middle class families to help create jobs.

My congresscritter voted ‘no’ also ....he’s among the last true conservatives standing.
Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 1, the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009:
There is no doubt that we are at a critical time in our economic situation. American families are hurting and something must be done. The crucial nature of this problem makes it even more imperative that we pass an economic recovery bill that results in accountable and transparent spending, and that will be effective in helping people who need it most. I am one of only 16 out of 435 Members of the House that voted against every single bailout and stimulus package to date. I did so because the packages lacked those critical components of accountability, transparency, and effectiveness. So far, weve seen that none of those packages have worked.
The stimulus package we voted on today was no different. The $819 billion package spends nearly $225,000 for every job it creates because much of the bill is wasteful spending that does not stimulate the economy. With our economy faltering, I am not willing to continue to invest in a model of we know is ineffective. The American people deserve a plan from their government that invests in real and long-term economic growth.
my DEMOCRAT representative voted no!!! i may have to start liking one democrat again.
