MY REFUSAL TO COMPLY!

I received the American Community Survey about a month ago. This compulsory 28 page document published and administered by the U.S. Census Bureau clearly demonstrates the need to ask the question " Who is out-of-control in our government?". Perhaps, more importantly, "Who is in control, outside of our government?" I decided, almost immediately, not to comply. A little investigation confirmed my suspicion. Namely, there are countless others of you out there who share a common concern about this interrogative survey as well as the motives of our government. I say " our government" because I still keep close to my heart the memory of a government and an America I supported while serving in the Vietnam war. A time when the enemy was perceived as a threat against our great nation and not from within. I received a second ACS just last week with a letter that hinted vague threats. This appears to follow the pattern described by most of you who have already experienced the ordeal. My course of action is best described by the following conviction.
It is the duty of every U.S. Citizen to practice civil disobedience when the government exceeds its authority.
The U.S. Constitution in Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3 states; "The actual enumeration shall be made within three years after the first meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent term of ten years." This gives the government authority to conduct a census every ten years by enumeration. Any demand placed upon a U.S. Citizen beyond that provision is unconstitutional. A paper history of the U.S. Census records throughout the life of our nation plainly exhibits the simple process of enumeration as the only method permitted to obtain a "head count" and only at an interval of ten years. The ACS far exceeds the intent of the U.S. Constitution for the purpose of congressional redistricting and allocation. The questions are extremely intrusive into our private lives and a blatant attempt to extract vital personal information that cannot be obtained by any other means. Also, it is my view that this campaign endorsed by our legislative body, in part or whole, is being used as a test ground to determine how far the American people will bend and stay pliable under the control of a central government. Summarizing my intent;
1) I will not comply with the demands of a government that has exceeded its authority. 2) I will not pay any fine. 3) I am, bold words but spoken true to my nature, willing to be imprisoned but not subjugated.
In doing so, I will practice civil disobedience for the first time in my life. Given the safeguards written into the U.S. Constitution by our founding fathers and the love of country they entrusted with us, I can do no other.

But this was a Survey, not a census, I hardly see their right to any answer.
As a matter of fact, how can they prove I ever got their survey? It was sent regular mail, no return receipt at all..

Can you please point out to me where in the US Constitution the words "health care" are found?
Maybe I've got an old copy but they're nowhere to be found in mine.

For the 2000 census I just answered the number of occupants question. Left the rest blank. Never heard from anyone about it.
That's my take on it too.
If she did (and she doesn't) she would probably get that info via the ACS, among other sources.

In the past, most households received a short-form questionnaire, while one household in six received a long form that contained additional questions and provided more detailed socioeconomic information about the population.
The 2010 Census will be a short-form only census and will count all residents living in the United States as well as ask for name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ethnicity, relationship and housing tenure – taking just minutes to complete.
The more detailed socioeconomic information is now collected through the American Community Survey. The survey provides current data about your community every year, rather than once every 10 years. It is sent to a small percentage of the population on a rotating basis throughout the decade. No household will receive the survey more often than once every five years.

I'm glad the long form is gone-- we got that one last time. But I don't like the looks of the ACS, and the ACS faqs section indicates:
"Do I have to answer the ACS questions?
Yes. Response to this survey is required by law (Section 221 of Title 13 ).
Respondents are required to answer all questions on the ACS to the best of their ability. Your answers are very important because they represent the answers of many other similar households in your community. The data that you and others provide in response to this survey are required to manage or evaluate federal and state government programs. If you submit an incomplete form or provide data that are unclear, we may contact you by phone or in person to obtain or clarify the missing information." -- end of second copy/paste

I did not see the penalty for not responding to the ACS listed in the ACS faqs section.
I believe The Legion takes them, as should the Fire Dept.

And that is precisely the reason for all those intrusive questions. Grouping. Groups fall in and out of favor, they are catered to or ignored. Pols take great comfort in such information. Divide and conquer - POWER - CONTROL.
If we all just said we were one group (American!), they'd lose power (well, at least a little bit - it's a start). But too many fail to see it and blindly answer like good little mind numbed sheeple.
Every ten years I tell em how many. That's it. Last census, that's what I did. They sent someone round. I was outside working when she drove up. Gave her credentials and began in on her verbal questioning.
"Two people live here" was the reply along with a look that said; to ask anything further is going to waste both of our time, and irritate the hell out of me. She left. No further communications were attempted.
“And the Census Bureau is free to send you more letters.”
The last time around I did the same thing. I completed the ‘number of persons living at my address’ part & sent it in. Later a census taker showed up at our door to get us to complete the rest. Sweetie started answering questions (against my wishes) but he finally got fed up & stopped answering when the questions of how much we earned came up. He said the govt already had that info & told the guy to leave. The guy’s hands were shaking as they spoke.
Apparently he’d taken a lot of abuse from uncooperative folks like us!
We never heard any more about it - no fine.
They kept sending people to the house to get more info.
They finally gave up after I threw them a couple of more bones.
I never did get hassled further or fined.
There was an instruction that said: Where it asks for race, please print R A C E ( using the word RACE as an example of how to print only 1 letter in the box.) Of course, I followed the instructions on that, implicitly...I printed R A C E.
That’s why I’m supporting the following in Arizona and Oklahoma (so far) to close up that loophole and to require *specific documentation* in order to be placed on the ballot...
