Don’t know where you are, but here in VA you pretty much have to paint between tenents, anyway.
The apartments are thoroughly cleaned and painted when a tenancy ends.
Of course, I've seen nico-nazis here claim that they can smell smoke in a freshly cleaned and painted apartment.
This makes them practically insane, but there you go.
