When he said on the campaign trail that he'd protect the second amendment you BELIEVED him?? Seriously, any hunters or gun owners that voted for Obama need a professional check-up from the neck-up. Obama's already working against the second amendment and the people he's appointed are leading the way.

Trying out before buying is often a good idea, including when buying a gun.
“Unless youre a strong woman, a 12 ga might knock you off your feet. Its got a big kick to it.”
I’ve run both rifle/pistol and skeet ranges, and never, ever, seen even the smallest shooter knocked off their feet. My wife is 5’3”, and has no problem at all. There is also a wide range of ammo you can use, which will effect how much it ‘kicks.’ Have someone who really knows what they are doing show you how to shoot, it really helps.
I wonder if we are one step closer to a home-grown insurgency.
Putting all his actions for just six days into perspective, along with his Rush comments and Hannity before that, I’d say his first priority is to give the big middle digit to conservatives. Contrary to the comments of the WH Presser this morning, he was not joking when he said “I won.”...all these actions are to tell us he is going to grind us into dust with the heel of his shoe.
Don’t register anything.
No real information in that article. How is Obama already “going after the second amendment?”
Anyway, liberals know that banning guns just isn’t going to happen without causing a second Civil War, their real goal will be to stop the sale and development of new guns and to severely control the sale of used ones as well as ammo.
I don’t have the source, but I remember reading that the AR-15 platform has become the most common rifle platform in the country (centerfire that is...so excluding all the dirt-cheap .22s everyone and their kid has).
I’m sure it was in no small part due to the original ban. Whatever the backlash was then, it’s got to be several fold this go-around right?
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if the Nazi trio has the Assault Weapons Ban wrapped up by Friday.
Nice revolver built like a battleship. A little heavy but very controllable. I have the SP101 in .357 with a 3 1/16 barrel but run 38HP+P in it. Relatively small but packs a wallop. Won't leave home without it :~)
Find it.
If they really believed that, they wouldn't be liberals.
On the UP side, remember that old saying that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it? Well, speaking as a teacher of history, I can attest that it's true. These lemmings are about to rush over the same cliff they jumped from in 1994 with that AWB. Remember? Clinton fired the first shot in lifting the ban on gays in the military and then along with trying to pass Hillary care he did pass (by ONE vote in the House) the first AWB in 1993. It took effect IIRC in 1994. The 1994 election cycle flipped the Congress to the Republicans for the first time in 40 years. Here they go .... again.
And maybe if you get a pink one, Obama will like it because it reminds him of his politics.
You gotta think these things through.
Seriously, my wife and I each have vang-comps, hers on the wall on her side of the bed, and mine on the wall on my side of the bed. They're about as sweet as a shotgun can be.
But we've been thinking: All we really need is a recording of two shotguns being racked and then my wife saying, "Honey, it's not fair. You got the last one, I wanna get a shot at this one." That's gotta be cheaper than two shotguns.
You have to get in touch with your inner 8 year old boy, that's what I think. Make noise and break stuff. Wow! That's FUN!
Remington 870 hands down.
It’s not as simple as that. My fiance has a very light weight 20 ga. with an incredible kick bc it is so light.....it even hurts my shoulders and I only shoot a 12 ga. (and my 12 ga. has nowhere the kick of that 20 ga)
1. Fire a shotgun of the same model you are thinking of getting. To defend yourself you have to be able to aim, fire, reload the chamber, aim and fire again quicker than someone who has just been shot at can react. Even with "low recoil" loads shotguns kick. Ask yourself if this is something you can learn to deal with.
2. Do not let recoil frighten you off. I have a friend who is (Maybe) 100 pounds and stands just over 5 feet. He shoots a Mossberg 590 12 gauge with no problem. The key is training and technique. Learn to lean into the gun and practice.
3. Don't buy a shotgun and just leave it in your closet. You may have to use the thing some day to save your life. Make a commitment to practice with it. Dedicate the time to become proficient and stay proficient.
4. Did I mention practice? There is a popular myth that you just have to point a shotgun in the general direction of a bad guy to hit him. This is not true. The pattern for 00 buckshot at 15 feet is about 3 1/2 inches. You'd be surprised how easy it is to miss with a shotgun. Practice.
Here's a link t o a brief 3 minute introductory video by a guy whose opinion I respect. Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch.

“The pattern for 00 buckshot at 15 feet is about 3 1/2 inches.”
Is that true? Seems like it should be more.
Depends upon your choke and barrel length, but at 15 feet, your normal hunting type shotgun will have that much of a pattern - choke is much more of a factor further out at the range you would be aiming at birds on the wing.
One reason sawed-off shotguns are illegal is because they have a larger pattern at close range.
If you are getting it primarily for home defense, be sure to get a shorter barrel. It's not easy to navigate hallways with a bird hunting barrel to swing around.
