Gillibrand is a Schmucky Schumer protege. Some believe she votes moderate because of her seat in upstate NY requires it (and, in NY, doesn’t seem to make a difference in legislation). Schumer may have her intentionally tilting at windmills to bide her time.
Now that she represents state-wide, she can “peel off the wool” and vote in lock-step with Schmucky. I tend to agree with that assessment.

It is a curious choice for Patterson. Earlier the Post reported Schumer and Clinton aids backed her. I would guess Patterson is counting on Schumer-Clinton to support him against Cuomo or Mahoney. I think he’ smore likely to end up with a knife in his back.
