Chris Matthews Mocks Gov. Palin One Day, Calls Her For Interview the Next
NewsBusters ^ | January 17, 2009 | Warner Todd Huston

As we all know, Governor Sarah Palin has over the last week come out swinging at the Old Media and some far left elements of the new one. With the release of the Palin interview segment by documentarian John Ziegler and the subsequent wheezing attack by Pat Dougherty of the Alaska Daily News, Palin has once again taken center stage in a media maelstrom.

The Anchorage Press has a nice, fair re-cap of this current imbroglio between the Palin hatin' Old Media and the governor of Alaska. One part of this article, though, is a spot on question that the ravenous Old Media should be forced to answer. If they all hate Palin so much, if they are all so sure she is a has been and is through on the national political scene, why are they clamoring so to get interviews with her, why the constant reporting on her?

Bill McAllister, the governor’s communications director, had a good question for the leg tingling Chris Matthews and his ilk because one minute Matthews slams her and the next calls her offices to get an interview.

If Governor Palin had any savy she would have known better than to allow that interview with Katy Couric. Did she think she was actually going to get a fair shake from Couric? This is where she and McCain are alike: (and you might as well throw George Bush in here, too)they think they can charm the left wing media into giving them fair treatment. This naivete is what’s wrong with the new Republicans. The kindler, gentler approach only caused the media to salivate prior to their kills.
I have withdrawn from the Republican Party after forty years. No more contributions, ever again. I remain a conservative who will just pull the right levers on election day while the government takes all my hard earned money, facilitated by my old Republican Party.

Chris needs Obama more to satisfy that tingle up his leg and to forget about Sarah as he would just recieve a “get lost you DNC pimp!” from her.

I think Gov.Palin was induced by the McLame staff to do the interviews with Couric and Gibson. I think she wasn’t all that keen on the idea, and that she would go on Rush’s show might have been her showing her independence.

I’m not sure she feels she can charm the left wing, or that she wants to charm them. I hope she doens’t give the MSM the time of day and limits her interviews to people who will give her a chance to speak. We’ll know if she’s jumped the shark if we see her on Letterman, The View, and even SNL(I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt on that one as well).

Introducing the clips, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews referred to “the vice presidential campaign that won’t end,”...

Hey Chris, you greasy dipstick, who's NOT letting her go her way? Are you really stupid enough to think that we don't know that its you and the MSM that won't let it "end"?

Chris, here's an image that should send chills down your spine instead of tingles down your leg....

My theory on the Couric interview is this. Sarah was new to the bubble and well under the sway of the McCain advisors at the time. They advised told her to do the interview. They told her not to say what she reads, since it was the Washington Times, FreeRepublic, FoxNews, etc. They told her not to talk about the Supremes.

They told her not to talk about what she believes, but not how to lie.

I disagree. Despite the bias, you still have to do the interviews or else run the bigger risk of looking like you are scared. This is exactly what happened when the dims bailed out of the Fox sponsored debate. I and everyone I know made the point, how can we expect them to face Putin, Ahmadinejad and other thugs if they can’t even face Fox. Of course, the difference, the dims would have gotten a fair break from Fox, but that does not diminish my point at all.

Yeah, it sucks, but there are ways to better handle it than just blowing them off.

McCain’s treasonous staffers ran the Palin-Couric interview. Frankly, those sunzabitches probably set it up in collusion with Couric to sabotage their own campaign.

She should just send Todd to do the interview.Bet Chrissie’s manners would improve then.

It wouldn’t be a “tingle” he felt running down his leg.

You are so right. Sarah should have given the interview to Brit Hume. So naive to trust the mainstream media when they're out to destroy you. Treat the mainstreams as they are: VULTURES

Her biggest problems are that she (and the McCain staff) let the media define her early on and that she is tainted by whole-heartedly endorsing and running on the same ticket as a complete non-conservative.

You know, some would think such conspiracies belong in the tinfoil hat brigade but empirical evidence, especially over the years since Reagan, indicates that government employees or government employee wannabees in general have less and less loyalty to American interests than they do to personal job security.
Big government, whether they work for Republicans or Democrats,is their agenda—and thus they tend to favor those who worship BG—i.e,the Democrats.
McCain had a lot of inside the beltway hacks who cared that only Big Government win either with McCain or Obama but not with a true conservative—the enemy of BG—Sarah.

The friend of my government or future government salary is my friend,in other words.
It's pure logic why it is hard for conservatives to win at government as they detest it's unbridled growth.

Kind of like running for Union Boss on a platform of trimming waste and reducing inefficiency in the workforce. Knowing the workers are the voters.

Just who the Hell is Chris Matthews? A former Dem politico that some network finds it profitable to put on the screen. Chris, I don’t need lectures from you.

Gov. Palin was forced to do the interviews by the McCain staff.

Palin owes the press nothing. Before she considers Matthews, she should review the Bachmann interview. Matthews hasn’t earned the right to talk to her and he’s pals with Olberman and they’re likely to sabotage her.

Like Obama slams Fox and Hannity pretty regularly, Palin could simply make jokes about MSNBC.

I think she should sit with O’Reilly. Why not?

She’d be strategically wise to meet with Oprah...given her audience draw, the controversial history, and the fact that Oprah is not unprofessional to her guests as Matthews and Olbermann are.
