Massachusetts Decriminalizes Pot
The Patriot Room ^ | January 3, 2009 | Bill Dupray

Of course they did. It's Massachusetts. The voters passed a ballot initiative that made possession of less than an ounce marijuana a civil violation with no criminal consequences. And since Massachusetts is run by libtards, the law has shockingly caused a whole lot of problems. For starters, the police have given up - they won't even bother to write the ticket.

“The lesson here is obvious. All potheads should immediately report to Massachusetts. Bring all your friends and that awesome work-ethic that pot smokers are known for, to a state that richly deserves your company.”

LMAO

If it were legal I doubt it would stay on top. No one will be going through half a pound a day like you can with the other crops on the list.

categorizing possession of pot as a civil infraction means the police can't really do anything to you. You can't be arrested, you don't have to tell them your name, and they can't search you.

And this is a bad thing how?

You won’t get that either in Massachusetts. They decriminalized murder a very long time ago.

I’d rather have cops fighting real criminals than going after potheads who are otherwise committing no real crimes.

Which really isn't the case. Pot arrests usually come after someone is stopped for breaking some other law.

It would make more sense if cigarettes were illegal and weed was legal.

Out of curiosity, why? Marijuana is much harder on the lungs than cigarettes. And last time I checked, people weren't lacing their Marlboros with embalming fluid, ketamine, or PCP.

I think that many folks mistakenly think that the marijuana being smoked today is just like the weed they all smoked back in the day.

Long over due imho.
That would be one less thing for the government to be wasting resources upon.
Additionally, the profit for smuggling should drop through the floor, and it will no longer be worth killing people over.

As your fellow Virginian may I invite you to partake of the hospitality of the People's Republic of Massachusetts ~ and stay there.

Your life should serve as an exemplar of the value of federalism.

Back in the Chappaquiddick era, no doubt!

"To be honest, I think "weed" is the most neligible drugs out there, even among legal drugs"

I agree somewhat. "Pot" tends to increase inhibitions. But, the science behind growing cannabis is exceptionally advanced now and it's easy to go way beyond a "buzz" with just a couple of hits. It's extremely impairing, if not incapacating. That won't happen with a couple of beers or shots.

Pot arrests usually come after someone is stopped for breaking some other law.

So as long as they are prosecuted for breaking the other law, what's the problem?

As I said before, someone who is getting high but breaking no other laws isn't a danger to anyone else and should not be prosecuted simply for getting high.

Good. Pot is a plant. People should be able to grow it in their gardens if they want.

It’s rumored that the politicians that backed this ballot initiative received large campaign donations from Frito-Lay.

No, it wouldn’t, LOL!

I was surprised to see that we produce so much rice right here at home! It never occurred to me, other than the Wild Rice from Northern WI and MN. You never hear about the EnviroWackos bitchin’ about Rice Paddies and how the runoff is ruining the Earth right here in America. I guess that since Enviros rarely work for a living and as they are a major consumer of rice & beans, they’re not ready to tackle protesting against their main food source right now, LOL! ;)

This Spring is going to be NUTS at all of the garden centers up here. Psychologically, people think that an extra tomato plant, or starting a garden for the first time is going to save them from starvation in these tough times.

It won’t, but you know I’m a ‘Good Little Capitalist’ at heart, so I’m ordering in plenty extra this season. ;)
