“Don’t you think it’s about time we wake up and smell the coffee and find some winning generals and strategists ourselves? I’m sick of losing elections and playing on defense all the time.”

See my tagline. That’s why Obama won.

Why can't conservatives and Republicans raise funds over the internet like BHO and MoveOn.org?

We did. And a lot. The point is that more people wanted socialism, unfortunately.

It is because the Communists took over the News Media long before they took control of the Democrat Party.

The GOP is determined to be a minority party and the party leadership is more concerned about BS then about actually doing anything to save this country from socialism. It’s time for the GOP to get out of the way of real conservatives so we can get this nation back on track again.

Tough to win elections when you won’t stand up to the MASSIVE voter frauds being perpetuated by democrats across the nation...

Tough to win elections when you’re afraid to stand on your principles because of the media attacks they will generate from a biased press.

Tough to win elections when good people will no longer run for office because of the demonizations, and the sea of absolute hate they will suffer for being “Conservative”.

We lost the election because the Republicans screwed the base... plain and simple. I know several conservatives that did not vote in the last election because of the poor choices they had.

The Republican party is done at this point unless they do something to really energize the base. They need to remember that pro-gun voters gave them Congress in 1994 as a direct result of the AW ban. The Republican party did NOTHING on the gun issue. Gun owners felt abandoned and after the ban sunsetted on September 13, 2004 they walked away.

I told many Republican leaders that we’d lose Congress and the White House if they didn’t get the base and gun owners specifically rallied behind the party. They didn’t and now we have a liberal socialist majority in control of our nation. Yes, this is an “I told you so.” post.

At this point, there is only one slim chance of re-energizing the base and the window of opportinity is closing on it. If the party is to be saved, Bush must mandate some pro-gun moves through EO’s before he leaves office. Reigning in the BATFE, authorizing a general amnesty of the NFA (class 3 database), mandating that BATFE establish procedures for testing of firearms and classification of firearms and similiar stuff.

Bush will also need to do some pro-life and other conservative stance stuff as well but I’ll leave that for the people that know those subjects.

Here is my prediction... should the Republican party continue ignoring the base they will not see control of the White House or Congress in our lifetimes barring the Democrats enraging the conservative base.

Should the Republicans re-energize the base they’ll take back Congress in the next election

Mike

Republicans are cowards and refuse to armed revolt..
therefore the democrats are emboldened.. and own Washington D.C...

If this changes... bodies will start appearing..
You know.... like in Fort Marcy Park..

The Clinton murder(s) scared the pants off most all elected republicans.. so that many resigned or retired.. right after that.. i.e. Vince Foster..

The republican party ceased to be dangerous then.. as it is now.. There are cowards..

I generally agree. It was a very short four years ago that we were winning everything. It is not like we do not know how to win. The question is whether the right people are there to fix the problems and work back into power. This includes candidates, recruiters, fund raisers and strategists.

The one area where the Democrats do better than us is winning elections.

Well, they vote the dead. And they "help" people vote. And they cheat at the ballot box. And they "sell" high position - pay to play. And they have union goons to oversee polling stations. They have people in the MSM who back them up as part of a tit for tat - information flowing one way (check out how fast the dems tried to look up dirt on Joe the Plumber - and how quickly that dirt was in the MSM) and

Now just what part of that should we imitate?

Let’s be honest here. GWB has been a disaster for the Republican brand and his administration’s failures left the door open for a defeated party to come roaring back to life. He wanted to use government to change people’s lives and while I don’t fault the spirit I find huge fault with the actions. He also couldn’t communicate worth a damn, couldn’t articulate policy and in the end appeared to be the buffoon that his critics made him out to be.

One of our biggest jobs is to replicate the on-line presence that Obama built. It is a REALLY powerful organization that communicates instantly with its minions by e-mail, text message, and house parties. Have you noticed the similar comments that appear like mushrooms on every news site? When an important story hits the wires, the Obamabots are mustered in large numbers to give the party line. They jam the phones at radio call-in shows whenever there is a threat to the One.

I don't see how we can avoid using our own cult of personality to replicate this success. Nobody is going to organize their life around the RNC web site, or even at a bystander's place like Rush or Lucianne's sites. People want a champion that they can believe in, actually fighting down there in the dust of the arena.

I happen to be a huge fan of Sarah Palin and wish to see her elected President, so I don't mind drinking the Kool-Aid of her cult. A new site called Team Sarah looks to be off to a good start at building the kind of internet powerhouse we will need in the coming years to fight off the Left.

I realize that there are some Republicans and conservatives, even here, who don't care much for Sarah herself. However, those folks should keep in mind that she will be a kingmaker and fund-raising superstar for the Republicans for decades to come, even if she never gets to the Oval Office herself. It's to every conservative's advantage to help her become the 800-lb gorilla of the on-line Right.

Give us someone who meets the following criteria:

1) Believes in the Free Market

2) Pro-Life

3) Believes in non Intrusive Government

4) Cuts both taxes and Government Spending

5) Believes in a strong national defense

Did I miss anything?

The problem is that, at this time in history, the electorate is less interested in freedom than in a free lunch. Tactics won't win the next election. We need a long-term strategy.

Our conservative leaders need to reach the voters with the message that individual liberty -- combined with individual responsibility -- is more important to their success than beggaring their neighbor.

Another man with a plan was - yes him, Ron Paul. This 73 year-old great-grandfather ran rings around the other Republican presidential candidates in fundraising and had an internet presence that rivaled Obama. All he did was return to basic principles that made this country great. All he did was unite the libertarians and conservatives together, and got crossover Democrats and independents without compromising his beliefs. Unfortunately, the GOP and most conservatives bashed him as a kook. If the GOP wants to win elections, they need to look no further than Paul.
