A Perfect Storm Brewing in Illinois; Herricane Palin on the Horizon
It's a Kwazy Life ^ | December 10, 2008 | Tom Lamb

If there is a special election that comes about from the corruption scandal with Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, a visit by Governor Palin maybe in order.

Like any political storm, elements of corruption have to be in the mix of elements.

In New Orleans, we saw the fall of Rep. Jefferson and an Asian Republican get elected. In this case, the competition would not be against an incumbent who was indicted, but instead, it would be for an empty seat held by president elect Barack Obama.

How the corruption element is mixed in is; Barack is deeply rooted politically with Blagojevich, thus Obama's involvement would be politically risky with him entering the endorsement arena. And any players that fell within 10,000 yards of the microphone used in Blagojevich's indictment, will be wondering, "what did I say".

It is plausible that a political perfect storm is brewing and the Republicans may have an opportunity to win that Senate seat.

It will take an Afro-American or possibly Hispanic Republican to win it. And a visit made by the corruption buster, Sarah Palin to visit.

Canadian Gas my Ass: The Alaska-Chicago Connection

Along with the fact that Sarah Palin fought corruption within the Republican party, if she gets a natural gas pipeline going, guess where it eventually winds up ending? Chicago.

And what has been the mantra about jobs and energy independence? The folks at the New York Times couldn't have said it any better.

Without a natural gas pipeline, the United States will increasingly depend on imports of natural gas in liquefied form, a source that is costly and potentially vulnerable to political instability in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Greater demand is already pushing prices higher, and adding to pressure to open deeper waters off the country’s coast for exploration.

It is time for team Palin to start playing the part of economic/energy guru and bring the two pipeline projects in Alaska together, revisit the tax structure and legislation tied with the acronym ACES and get the mojo going.

Because if there is a special election happening, there is a perfect storm brewing and its name is Herricane Palin.

Palin rocks! She is a rising star and the liberal left is afraid of her.

There has to be an election first. ILL law calls for the appointment of the replacement until the next Congressional election which would be in 2010. Now with the troubles of the Gov. and the call for the ILL Leg. to meet and change the law there maybe the option of an election. We’ll see what developes in the next few weeks.

I'd rather see Blago appoint himself to the Senate. He's no more corrupt that most of the other members; he simply lacks their finesse.

Ask Harry Reid.

Of course Sarah Palin should make a cause célèbre out of corruption and out of the energy issue. The shame is the unexplained failure to have her do so during the campaign. Here is what I posted among many such posts crying out for Sarah Palin to establish her reputation as a serious candidate while there was still time rather than the butt of Saturday Night Live by appearing in a serious forum and delivering a serious speech about energy:

Here is a holy crusade ready to be led by the woman whom John McCain has said would head up energy in his administration. If Palin cannot effectively shred the House Democrats for this travesty and bring the American people to a boil on the subject, there is no issue on which she can lead, there is no place where she can reform.

In a stroke she can free herself of the Lilliputian attacks alleging she is too small for the job and transform herself into a major player on one of the most important issues which confront voters. She can do it with the single issue upon which she is most knowledgeable. It would validate her as a reformer and validate McCain's choice for Vice President. It would put the Democrats entirely on the defensive on an issue where they cannot win if they are only confronted but which they can contrive to camouflage if the McCain camp remains passive or even vague. Promises that we will drill offshore are now not enough. We have this travesty of a bill before us and it is the perfect vehicle to expose the Democrats and illuminate McCain and the Republicans.

Seize the mettle!

At the same time, while Palin is making a very serious address before an important forum on energy focused around the offshore drilling bill,...

Problem is, the McCain handlers (who wanted Ridge or Lieberman) put her on a short leash, made her entirely dependnent on them, and just put her on the rally tour.

Governor Palin is OFF McCain’s short leash now. We’re done (logically speaking) with his endless half-hearted quest to become President of the United States. Hopefully, we’re also done with “Loserman’s” endless quest to become SOMEBODY-ANYBODY’S Vice President of the United States. - McCain’s also endless catering to the MSM’s transparent efforts to destroy Governor Palin was just a pain to watch. Now, he can sputter and “reach across the aisle” in peace, be on SNL every week if he likes, and stay out of the primaries from now on and not waste our time. Palin is a winner, and he wasted her talent as a winner.

The license issued to TransCanada by the State of Alaska is for a Natural Gas pipeline from the Alaskan North Slope to Alberta.

From there it is tied into existing pipeline that connect from California to New York. But some of this gas is also likely to feed the Alberta oil sands growing demand.

By the way, the project in the article you linked to is the competing pipeline to Sarah's preferred project and the one that the state licensed.

Art would that be you? Yes I know, the NYT article was the preferred article on this one.

She needs to bring both together.

Art would that be you?

If you are asking if my name is Art, no.

She needs to bring both together.

The license has already been issued to Transcanada for a line to Alberta.

Yes I know. The license has been issued but the terms allow for the Denali project and TransCanada to come together.

TransCanada is now looking to request Congress increase the 18 billion loan guarantee to offset the rise in the construction cost.

That is one aspect that changes the rules on the original argreement. It would be beneficial for Palin to come back and revisit the tax structure in ACES and look at bringing the two projects together.

Do you mean TransCanada has the right to sell partial ownership to others?

They have the right to sell part of the project.
