The Founding Fathers were essentially in the same position as Obama - born under British rule (or rather born to fathers who were under British Rule). That’s why they SPECIFICALLY authorized themselves to be eligible to be President in Article 2 of the Constitution “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President;... “
They didn’t consider themselves “natural born citizens”.
No, they weren’t in the same position.
They KNEW they were not natural born citizens, nor could they be, of a country that did not yet exist. They chose to make everyone living in the US at the time citizens.
That solution had the effect of lasting until the last person alive when the constitution was adopted died then that provision became moot.
