Barone's Lesson From Georgia: Without Obama On The Ticket, Dems May Have Trouble in 2010
The Patriot Room ^ | December 4, 2008 | Bill Dupray

Posted on 12/04/2008 6:51:32 AM PST by Bill Dupray

Michael Barone compares turnout numbers on November 4 with the turnout in Tuesday’s Georgia Senate Runoff. It seems that The One has rapidly diminishing coattails and 2008 could be a tough repeat in 2010.

I could care less about 2010. Obama will still be there in 2012 to help defend 29 Democratic Senate seats and quite frankly the thought of the monolithic (and racist) black vote coming out to save them disgusts me.

Not very smart.

We’d better care about EVERY election.

I think he makes a good point. In 2 years, it could be a VERY different picture.

It is unlikely that Obama of 2112 will be the Obama of 2008, and the environment will likely be very different from today. I think we are all pretty confident that Obama is not a Messiah, and unless we are wrong, there will be chinks in the armor after 4 years. He will either piss off some of his base, some in the middle, or some on the right when he actually makes decisions. Some groups of voters will be less likely to support the Dems in total in 4 years than this year.

We should care about every election, but I’d be more worried about holding on to our existing senate seats in 2010 rather than gaining any. We have Bunning in Tennesse and Martinez’s open seat in Florida (And who knows how many more open seats) to defend and every single democratic incumbent that year won by 55% or more previously except for Ken Salazaar in Colorado and that state has been trending reliably blue and our party there is becoming a mess like Ohio, Virginia, and other previously reliably Republican states.

We should see a net gain in the house but not enough to gain a majority probably. The senate (and to some extent the courts) will be our last redoubt for a while.

And our best chance is in 2012 of taking it back.

Without the “Get Out The Vote” money, 2010 will be a nightmare for the Democrats. Especially if they squander the next two years doing nothing of value.

Predicting now is meaningless. The GOP could make a huge comeback in two years like it did in 1994—or it could end up like Canada’s and Britain’s Conservatives who were in the wilderness for a decade while the Libs moved their countries to the far Left. We just don’t know yet.

If I was a Republican strategist I would create a term limits debate and use it as a litmus test for new politicians seeking office.

The American people are sick of the current political crapweasels. We should fight to get term limits for all national politicians into the Constitution. Use the litmus test. Democrats will have to either go along with it or fight it.

I think it is a fight that can be won and it will end the power struggle.

Lunatics like Daily Kos, George Soros, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Louis Farrakhan and Bill Ayers will be making the decisions concerning America's future.

Obama is merely the mouthpiece for these evil people, and he is nothing more.

Bunning is Kentucky’s senator, not Tennessee’s

We’d better care about EVERY election.

Hear, here! First and foremost, we should focus on the next primary in 2010.

We must flush! (the RINOs).....

It will be a different picture. The Dems will over-reach, because they are impulsive party- and self-firsters with no regard for the welfare of the nation. Come election night in 2010, we’re going to be turning back the tide.

I think it is very important to keep the political and LEGAL pressure on ACORN. This group needs to be knocked down a few notches if not put out of business.

I doubt with the RAT’s in control there will be anything resembling ID requirements to vote nationwide. Lord knows the Pubbies had a chance and totally blew it.

I agree. There is another run-off election this Saturday for a congressional seat in Louisiana. Let’s hope and pray we win this one as well.

Let’s also see if we can win back the the governor’s mansion in Virginia next year. I think George Allen would make a strong candidate for our side.

By 2010 BO won’t have any coattails. He won’t even have a coat.

Obama will still be there in 2012 to help defend 29 Democratic Senate seats “

You mean Comrade Obama will be there to drag down 29 Democratic Senate seats in 2012, yes?
Let's face it, Obama in 2012 is likely to be like when was Carter trying to get reelected. I fully expect rogue countries like Iran, North Korea, Syria etc to easily draw rings round the hapless Obama.
And there are too many issues where Obama is to the extreme left and far to the left of most Americans. The media cannot cover up his sins forever. The bulge of pregnancy cannot be covered by the hand.

I got a fund raising letter from the RNC yesterday.

I sent it straight to my shread basket.

The RNC or any Republican group is not getting one red cent from me until they learn how to fight. Part of that is using the new technology, to their credit, Obama and the Rats used the last two cycles since 2004. The other part of the deal with me is to see our guys no longer cower in a corner when they show up in the media. Fight back and don’t back down. When I see that happen, maybe, just maybe I’ll send a Republican a check. Until then, nada, zip, zero!
