Don’t forget that Mohammed was first of all an “organized crime” figure of his day. He made his living robbing caravans and defenseless small towns with his tribe, and invented Islam as a way of extending the power of this tribe to terrorize and extort money from neighboring areas. So Dawood is just following in the steps of the master.
