Here is video of longtime Washington journalist Robert Novak talking with Charlie Rose in August 2007 about his book, "Prince of Darkness," which chronicles his 50 years of covering politics in Washington, D.C. Novak's nickname is "Prince of Darkness," and his book by the same name is a masterpiece. I am reading it right now, and it is truly a difficult-to-put-down page-turner. Novak arrived in Washington in 1957 as a writer for Associated Press. He moved to the Wall Street Journal a few years later, and then joined with Rowland Evans in writing a syndicated column six-days a week in early 1963. Novak shares behind-the-scenes insights on JFK, LBJ, Nixon and every other President in these 50 years. His sources enabled him to be one of the premier journalists in Washington, and he shares his insights in a wonderful style. I highly recommend this book if you love politics.
I went looking for this interview in which he talks with Rose about his career and his book. His discussion with Novak alone begins at the 18:08 mark of the video. Novak is now suffering with a brain tumor. He has always been one of my favorite journalists. My thoughts and prayers go out to him. . . . . . (Watch Video)
