Obama's Payoff Complete, Hillary Clinton Sells Soul for Secretary of State Job
Conservatism Today ^ | 11/22 | Scott Martin

Posted on 11/21/2008 1:28:15 PM PST by Scott Martin

In Hillary Clinton's lust to be remembered as something other than the most cheated on First Lady ever, she has made a deal with the Devil, an odd sale of her soul where she doesn't even get to be President. I guess you have to take whatever you can get for your soul nowadays, what with the post-Obama market collapse we're going through. And what she could get was a job as Secretary of State, a job that would seem perfect for the woman who guaranteed that if the phone should ever ring at 3 in the morning, she would be there to answer it.

What a downer for Hillary. Six months ago she was first in line for the Presidency. Now she’s what, fourth?

She gets cabinet level experience, foreign policy experience, administration experience.

And if that’s not enough, 4 acts of Arkancide and she’s in control!!!!!

Step by step.

At some point Biden will step down due to health issues, and she will be asked to replace him.

Actually, if you must have her in power somewhere, having her as an Executive Branch official is an improvement over having her in the Senate.

First, she has to resign from her Senate seat. While she will be replaced by another Democrat, that Democrat may actually be NOT running for president from the moment he or she gets there. Maybe they will actually be interested in serving the public interest!

Second, she serves at the pleasure of the President of the United States. So, if she really gets out of hand, she can be dismissed by the “One” summarily. (And there is no nice, warm Senate seat waiting for her return.)

Third, because she is no longer in the Senate, she cannot make mischief for the “One’s” social and other programs by putting strategic Senatorial "holds" on key legislation or otherwise trying to "improve" it.

Fourth, as Secretary of State, she will have a very definite public policy “lane” she will be expected to swim in; get out of line, get chewed out or fired.

Sixth, Bill will have to agree to be on his best behavior which should tone down on his overseas shenanigans.

Not an ideal situation but things could be worst. It could be John Francois.

It looks to me like Obama is the one selling his soul to be president. And the devil will want payment one day.

I agree with you. It is Obama who sold his soul. Or is he so weak that the Clintons can pull his strings? Look at all the Clinton people he has chosen. It is like a Clintons reunion. He and Michelle are even sending their children to the same school attended by Chelsea.

Obama the figurehead, run by the Clintons. There should be lots of jokes forthcoming.

Bingo! Biden won’t be there four years. Or she’ll run with him as Veep in 2012. I think she’s afraid to run against Sarah Palin.

Obama is stupid so he’ll put her in as Veep, he “leaves” office and she takes over.

The last possible scenario is the Kenyan birth. Do Hillary and Bill have the goods on him? It sure seems like they’re calling the shots. Bill has his hand up Obama’s puppet butt and Hillary is pulling on the strings.

Or, DaiHuy, you’re right!

If he's smart he fires her after about 6 months or the first sign of foreign policy trouble.

That would be asking for trouble. Hillary would be the most exalted victim woman in the land, and mount a righteously wrathful campaign to get even in 2012. At the first foreign policy fiasco Obama woud be discredited for ditching his wonderful wise experienced SOS out of arrogance. No, if this pans out she'll be there for the first term at least, or until she resigns.

Sen Robert Byrd (D-W. Virginia)?

That is even scarier. And the scenario of four swiftly happening near-simultaneous removals even more of a possibility.

I don’t agree. In 2012, it will be nearly impossible for any democrat to unseat Obama. That is unless he’s fighting for his political life at the time. All she has to do is a big Clintonian “not my fault” to a crises that could take down Obama.

Ol’ Elbie Jay got booted by the Democrats in 1968, whether the decision not to run again was his, or one forced upon him. Obama may just decide this president business may be too rough a game. Truth to be told, he has NEVER been through a serious crisis in his life, and no character-building exercises ever show up on his resume (that we know of).

Byrd is still Pres. Pro Tempore as far as I can tell. I would guess he’ll become PPT Emeritius in Jan 2009.

I still hate to think of a President who's only problem solving card is to get his opponent's sealed divorce records unsealed. How well will that one work against a hostile force?

Obamariods don't realize that being a Senator means getting prestige while avoiding responsibility. House members have more accountability. I wonder how shocked the O will be when he finds out that the buck does indeed stop there.

Fourth in line is the Pro Tempore Senate Member AKA Sen Robert Byrd (D-W. Virginia).

Actually, the Pro Tempore Senator is third.

So, assuming Byrd stays on, come January 20th the line will be: - Biden, Pelosi, Byrd, Clinton.

Whether it was the LBJ scenario or the Carter scenario, disastrous Democratic Presidents are very good things for Republicans.

That is why I am one of the optimists around here. Everyone needs to just chill out--the Democrats are going to make a truly historic mess of the next four years.

In 2012 he "moderate" "low information" voters will look themselves in the mirror and admit that "they" made a mistake they won't want to make again for a long long time.
