Moving up the date for the MSM demise
11-19-2008 | Charles Horton

Posted on 11/19/2008 6:27:27 AM PST by BiasFreedomDay

By now everyone reading the Main Stream Media (MSM) knows how biased the reporting was during the election campaign. This bias extended far beyond the editorial page and has been confirmed through independent studies of the press. The reporting has an almost in-your-face attitude, as though we readers have no options and the press can report whatever they want. The St. Louis Post Dispatch, my daily paper, does not even bother to present facts fairly; they simply choose to show those things favorable to Obama with no analysis of the facts. The press captured this election for Obama, and now they must pay. .

I propose we pick a date, let's say January 21, (the day after the inauguration), and everyone cancels their subscription to those publications whose bias was so blatant as to render them a factor in the election. If you feel your local media has not been fair in the coverage they choose to print, then cancellation is necessary. Doctors, dentists, anyone offering people waiting in their offices reading material, should cancel subscriptions to Time, Newsweek, etc., effective January 21. We will come up with a name for this movement. I am open to suggestions as to the process and method of spreading the word. Join me in enlisting others and extracting payment for the wrongs committed by the press.

The moral relitavism and PC is what killed em. They always have to defend the indefensable in their reports. Ther are not 2 sides to every issue when it comes to right and wrong.

I like the idea, but I would have to resubscribe to something in order to cancel a subscription.

They were in-your-face because they knew that an 0bama administration would protect them and hound their enemies back to usenet.

It was an investment, and a win-win; McCain would have helped them too, but not as much as Obama.

Wait for Localism on the radio and the end of net anonymity, even here!

These reports of the MSM demise are a bit premature. They just got someone elected President by not presenting the facts about who he was and what he stood for. They can just as easily destroy him like they did Sarah with their lies and deceit.

We must develop a true alternative to the MSM to be successful. Either from within the format or something new.

I like your idea. Unfortunately for its implimentation in our home, we quit taking the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (we call it the "St. Louis Pravda") years ago. I suspect many others have also because the Post gives away 13-week subscriptions and other come-ons to seduce people to subscribe. Their ciruclation-rate has been falling for years.

I repeat, I like your idea. I suggest that those who haven't already cancelled subscriptions do so on January 21, and people (like me) who don't read the obviously-biased rags gently encourage friends, family, doctors, and others to quit subscribing.

Good idea, but I am sorry I ca't help. I cancelled my Tuscaloosa paper over 12 years ago because the NYT owns them. When they call about renewal, I tell them they are too liberal for me. I haven't bought Time, Newsweek, etc. for about the same no. of years.

Still, I think we should turn off, get rid of and stay away from all MSM and all H'wood leftists actors and productions.

How about a petition that simply lists all propaganda outlets AND their sponsors, citing their betrayal as the reason we don’t subscribe or purchase their sponsor’s products.

It really needs to be bigger... it should be a web site that keeps the information updated as to who is accessing the American dream via advertising through outlets that are denying everyone else theirs.

The MSM captured the 2006 elections for Nancy and crew. . and worse, if it’s left up to them, conservatives will be shut out from now on. No pretense of unbiased “journalism”; they are pretty much all unabashed, elitist socialist or worse.

Control the information you control the people.

There will be no demise of the MSM. As long as the majority of stockholders are the executives and board members, it won’t make a difference.

The morning after the election I called the circulation manager of my local paper and cancelled my subscription. She asked “when”, I said immediately. She asked “why”, I replied, because the media was complicit in electing a communist to the Presidency! She hung up. My paper stopped the following day.

It is too bad we cannot “pick and choose” our Cable channels. Cutting those out of the mix would do the most good. They won’t feel the pain because the only thing left to watch is Discovery, History and the Weather Channel. I’ve blocked MSNBC, but what good does that do to their ratings?

Hey - same here! When they’d call to see if we wanted to subscribe - I’d say, no- too liberal.

The newspapers have just about all become not just liberal, but unabashed elitist Democrat SOCIALISTS. “Journalism”, if it ever briefly existed is now officially dead. - My husband takes the local small town papers and one (liberal) city paper for the word games and a bit of hard news found in them. I don’t read the city paper nor much in the local papers. We may go to an average of one movie a year, but that’s about to stop altogether for me. I’m tired of all the Hollywood “beautiful people” running off at the mouth, and I don’t want to keep contributing to their frivolous awful extravagant purchases. T.V. would go completely except for the weather reports if I had my way.

Unfortunatly “ala carte” cable would limit choice and “diversity”. Oppose it.

"I like the idea, but I would have to resubscribe to something in order to cancel a subscription. "

Nahhh...just go ahead and write to the liberal rags you don't even subscribe to...it keeps them busy trying to find your account; besides, the rash of cancellations send a message that you don't like their crap.

They might even call you back for more information and you can tell them in person that you don't like their crap.

You KNOW they are going to eventually start whining about it and we can all get a good laugh.
