My question today is this: was I wrong to raise my concerns before the elections? If so, is it safe to raise concerns now?

I voted for him but that never stopped me from calling him what he is.

I do not think you are going to get a whole lot of argument around here. He somehow got the nomination despite the fact that no one I know voted for him in the primary.

I deluded myself over the spring and summer into thinking that McCain could be a good candidate.
As September arrived, I realized just how naive I was.
McCain never changed one bit from the past seven years when his main mission in life was to make GWB and the Republican Party look bad.... and the liberal Democrats in Congress look good.
If I never see or hear McCain for the the next ten years, it will be too soon.

I voted for him too but he is just a slimy politician I had hoped he would squeak out a win and Sarah could grow enough in 4 to take us home again

My question today is this: was I wrong to raise my concerns before the elections? No, you weren't wrong. He is and always has been a Teddy Roosevelt, government is the answer to every problem politician who had no business being the Republican presidential candidate.

I don’t know if you were wrong or not. I share/shared some of those same concerns about McCain. I can’t say I never said a negative thing about McCain during the campaign, but I tried to keep it a minimum because the threat from the other side was so much greater.
To: ilgipper
Yup. We have to fix the state primaries. No more letting libs pick our candidate. Although I admit I was a proud member of project chaos here in TX.

I hear ya beav....my muted criticism was intended not to dissuade potential voters (hey - we are freepers...who is going to change their vote here?) but rather to keep us honest. I was taking the approach of “work like hell to get him elected then work like hell to drag him my way on the issues”.

Yeah, sorta like some of my tools that look good but never quite do what I want them to!

None of these things would be an issue with a decent candidate. McCain was the turd that floated to the top of the bowl, and he has now been flushed. I don't think there was much that could have changed the outcome.
