"Mothers are being forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars to men who paid child support over decades but were wrongly named as fathers....Ken Rodgers obtained orders for the repayment of $60,000 after making child-support contributions for a decade to a woman who refused to send him even a photograph of his alleged child...
"The money is being garnished from mothers' incomes in the same way that payments are taken from fathers."

And if they don’t pay will they throw the mothers in prison?
This seems unlikely to me. The family courts usually are not interested in the rights of the parents. They just want to make certain the child and mother don’t end up on welfare.

This can’t possibly be the US. I don’t think any US judge involved in child support has the common sense to force a woman to pay the money back.
Obviously they should pay the money back but how about soem criminal charges for fraud? Eh?
they should have to pay back. they defrauded the court and the men.
Australian article?
“Sole Parents Union president Kathleen Swinbourne said forcing mothers to return child support would hurt the child, both financially and emotionally.”
I would think being raised by a woman that is so totally devoid of any morality and integrity about the paternity of her own child would hurt the child emotionally. Not getting money from a person the kids barely knows won’t be nearly as harmful in my opinion.
When justice becomes injustice there is no point in turing to the courts. In such cases you must take justice into your own hands...
It’s a US article, written by a guy who hosts a radio talk show in California. He focuses on these kinds of issues and keeps track of news around the world. It’s often so that there’s a bit of a domino effect. Australia followed the US into the War Against Fathers, but like many others that followed the US into this war, they’re pulling back before the US. It is a sign, not immediately relevant in the US, but it is a sign.
In the US if you overpay or fraudulently pay child support, the agency that beat you into the ground to get the payments will shrug its shoulders and tell the man to take it up with the woman.
Actually, in the US, the agency will continue to force the man to pay - even after it’s proven he’s not the father.
“”The money is being garnished from mothers’ incomes in the same way that payments are taken from fathers.””
Good. Too bad the women get to raise those kids. They’ll learn nothing but lie, cheat and steal.
This decision if from an Australian court.
I guess that rules out illegals, correct?
if this is true its great news and hope for others.....
Good news. Frauds need to be held accountable in order to ensure that the system is credible.
