Here is video of McCain aide Nicolle Wallace on the Today Show with Matt Lauer this morning where she talked about the accusations against Gov. Sarah Palin. Wallace has been accused of being one of the leakers inside the campaign, putting out damaging information against Gov. Palin. With Lauer, Wallace said Gov. Palin "did nothing wrong," but she did not flatly deny the accusations against Palin, nor did she deny sharing information with the press. . . . . (Watch Video)

“did nothing wrong” is not exactly the most ringing endorsement..... it’s kind of like “never been indicted”..... it leaves too much unsaid.... whether or not Nicole Wallace has been actively trashing Governor Palin, she may well have let out a few tidbits that were useful to the scapegoat crowd.

Looks like Ms. Wallace is trying to cover up her mistakes. She said Palin was undiva like and a hard worker. Good enough for me. I wish we could all just let it go now. Lets focus on 2010 and get some seats back.
It is really tough, in the age of the internet, to remain anonymous and get away with slandering one’s political opponents by spreading tales to the media. Those pesky bloggers are taking the fun out of political consultant work.
Nicole has realized her typical losing staffer behavior is not working FOR her this time. She is trying to do damage control for HERSELF.
Don’t fall for Fox News aka Obama TV and Carl Cameron stirring up this McCain aides hate Palin story. The entire media is pro-Obama. The Obama gang is pushing this McCain-Palin story to stir up trouble. Ignore it.
Nicolle Wallace was also in contact with Kathleen Parker - if you read Ms. Parker’s articles bemoaning Sarah Palin as the choice for VP you’ll notice that Ms. Parker’s complaints are superficial and weirdly focused on how Sarah did in her interviews with Katie Cuoric.
My bet is that Nicolle Wallace was actually talking over the phone with Kathleen Parker giving her an angle for one of her anti-Palin articles.
Ask yourself, is a Katie Couric interview something that sticks in your mind as significant or a indication of qualification for public office or do you watch Katie Couric and cringe at her superficiality?
This was a double team back stabbing in full fledge attack. Nicolle Wallace had a hand in this and it would have been nice if Kathleen Parker at least accentuated something substantive against Sarah Palin.
If you reread the three or four articles Kathleen Parker wrote about Sarah Palin, Ms. Parker’s disdain is for your average American. No one I know stands around in grocery store checkout lines wondering how they’re going to pay for their groceries while considering the cost of gas making trips to work prohibitive. That’s dripping with condescension and it’s really hurtful because we conservatives are always getting backstabbed by the media, and our own Republican party.
I feel personally betrayed by the National Review (which I always had a stand offish relationship with them as a reader) and Kathleen Parker (who is generally a nondescript writer).
Isn’t Nicole Wallace, who is super cute by the way, the one responsible for some of the leaks?
Look, just read through the lines in Sarah's interview with Alaska deejays. It's obvious what happened. She wanted to aggressively and pro-actively answer the rumors and smears right away. And she wanted to go out and speak to the press and talk radio right away. They wouldn't let her do it. They totally and completely botched her roll out, and they knew that the minute she was free of them, the truth would come out. So they made a pre-emptive strike by spreading these anonymous smears. Now she is forced to answer these ludicrous accusations. They are trying to make sure she never works again, because if she does, they will never work again. These are professional spinmeisters, and the spin they tried to give to the story is that they were dealing with a dumb woman who wasn't ready for prime time and that's why they had to keep her under wraps. When in reality, Nicolle Wallace, who probably never believed that McCain would win, had negotiated an interview deal with her old boss Couric at CBS. Gee, you think maybe she was trying to get a job after the campaign is over?
Campbell Brown on CNN called these anonymous sources out on their stupid spin plan by saying that if all of this is true, wouldn't that be even more damaging for these people who chose Palin as McCain's vp and tried to sell her to us as ready for office?
The whole thing stinks to high heaven and has only succeeded in making the base love her more. The key is for Palin to answer the charges lest they become accepted. She can never win a general election with only the base. She needs to repair her image with everyone. That's why she should now go on all of these shows. It will be much easier now because she won't be expected to answer questions about McCain's policy decisions. She might even be able to let loose and say that the bailout was wrong and so forth.
Has anyone informed Detective Goren?
Hey, for once I must agree with Campbell Brown -- I've been saying that to everyone I know since this crapola started -- either the McCainiacs are responsible for trying to foist a terrible VP pick upon the country, or else this smear campaign is beyond despicable.
I opt for Door #2.
Let’s make a note of ALL the aides working the McCain campaign and make sure they’re never doing anything like that again for the GOP.
I think that you are painting with too wide a brush.
;)
Clarification. She saved all of those campaign workers and John McCain himself from a very embarrssing defeat. Should read, an even more embarrassing defeat.
There are very real differences between competing groups within the Republican Party, namely real conservatives and Neocon RINOs. Those differences need to be clearly, loudly, and passionately addressed.
Ignoring them only maintains the unsuccessful status quo of Neocon RINO domination within the Republican Party.
Some times you have to use a roller.
