I thought this might be a good opportunity to offer some thoughts about not only judicial confirmations, but how to bring about meaningful change in this country.By the way the Obama Camp and supporters have pummeled the more moderate Hillary supporters in the primary, The One meant every word of this when he wrote it back in 2005.
Maybe some of you believe I could have made my general point more artfully, but its precisely because many of these groups are friends and supporters that I felt it necessary to speak my mind.
There is one way, over the long haul, to guarantee the appointment of judges that are sensitive to issues of social justice, and that is to win the right to appoint them by recapturing the presidency and the Senate. And I dont believe we get there by vilifying good allies, with a lifetime record of battling for progressive causes, over one vote or position. I am convinced that, our mutual frustrations and strongly-held beliefs notwithstanding, the strategy driving much of Democratic advocacy, and the tone of much of our rhetoric, is an impediment to creating a workable progressive majority in this country.
According to the storyline that drives many advocacy groups and Democratic activists - a storyline often reflected in comments on this blog - we are up against a sharply partisan, radically conservative, take-no-prisoners Republican party. They have beaten us twice by energizing their base with red meat rhetoric and single-minded devotion and discipline to their agenda. In order to beat them, it is necessary for Democrats to get some backbone, give as good as they get, brook no compromise, drive out Democrats who are interested in appeasing the right wing, and enforce a more clearly progressive agenda.
The country, finally knowing what we stand for and seeing a sharp contrast, will rally to our side and thereby usher in a new progressive era.
I suggest you send this to johnmccain.com immediately.
Spread it around to anyone and everyone, ESPECIALLY the PUMAs.
Are we sure this isn’t just a user who chose the screen name “Barack Obama”?
Thanks for the new link. I tried to search for it, and had no luck! (Still new at this).
Dugg and commented!
So much for judgement. They showed their far left side and people are running.
I asked, well, what's going to happen to those people that we can't re-educate; that are die-hard capitalists. And the reply was that they'd have to be eliminated. And when I pursued this further, they estimated that they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these re-education centers. And when I say eliminate, I mean kill. 25 million people.
You can find this info at this link:
“the storyline that drives many advocacy groups and Democratic activists - a storyline often reflected in comments on this blog”
The pragmatist in me demands that we step back and realize that he is stating what the “storyline” is — that centrists be driven out. Then he goes on to say that this is NOT how things should get done.
Context matters. To claim these are his feelings is tantamount to some Kook’s claim that the Bible says “there is no God”. The Bible DOES indeed say that, but the part where it says “A Fool claims there is no God”, is left out.
This is a non-starter. Stand down.
I won’t disagree with that, but we won’t get anywhere saying Obama wants to ‘banish moderates.’ We’ll just look like idiots.
I agree. In fact, it's not at all difficult to find the original post: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/9/30/102745/165/500/153069. Immediately after the excerpted paragraph, Obama goes on: "I think this perspective misreads the American people."
This "Gateway Pundit" blogger is either stupid or intellectually dishonest. Whichever one he is, it's not the kind of thing that I would be urging to go "viral." Because it will just make you (and FR, by association) look stupid or intellectually dishonest.
Just the fact that the commie blogs at Daily Kos is enough. Proves he is anti-American.
Its aleady happened, at the Denver convention.
Intimidation by Obathugs.
Just visit PUMApac.org and read away.
You have it right.
Question: How do his comments substantively differ from comments on FR everyday about driving RINOs out of the party?
Answer: They don’t.
I guy told me today that anyone who would vote for Obama is a damn, dumbass.
They and we know nothing about the man or we know too much.
Somebody needs to post this on the Hillary Clinton PUMA forum.
Here’s the difference - the Republican party used to be conservative. RINOS are destroying it. They should just admit that they’re liberals and quit play acting. Also, conservative positions and values are the right ones.
OTOH, the Democrat party platform is liberal. It is becoming more and more extremist - IOW, more and more wrong. So Obama wants to get rid of the Democrats who are LEAST wrong, and conservatives want RINOS - moderate Rs - to leave because they are the LEAST right!
It’s actually an inverse situation.
There is objective reality and objective right and wrong here.
TO make it crystal clear - Obama wants to make the Democratic party WORSE and conservatives want to make the Republican party BETTER.
Clear?
This would be like McCain, having no offense or defense, recovering an Obama fumble in Obama’s own end zone for a McCain touchdown. McCain basically doesn’t have to do anything - probably better that way.
Sent to the campaign and emailed out to others as well.
“The country, finally knowing what we stand for and seeing a sharp contrast, will rally to our side and thereby usher in a new progressive era.”
This quote is very revealing. It shows the drastic misunderstanding Obama has of the American public.
This is good news. His campaign will fail. Look at how stupid his infomercial was.
