Amero: Golden Conspiracy?
Nietzsche is Dead ^ | 27 Oct 08 | foutsc

Posted on 10/27/2008 11:56:25 AM PDT by foutsc

Is the Federal Government planning to demonetize the dollar and replace it with a new Mexican-Canadian-US currency known as the Amero?

Like all good conspiracies, this one is rooted in facts but quickly branches out into wild and wooly territory. Trying to cut through the tangle of information quickly overwhelmed me. Andrew E. Marshall has written an interesting piece on the issue. I noticed his website has articles by Pat Buchanan and America critic Howard Zinn. Odd combination.

There's also some guy named Hal Turner on a Spanish language Google video site flashing Ameros minted and sold by this website that he claims are made by the Denver Mint. The messages responding to his video are all from excited Latin Americans eager for the hated America's immediate downfall.

I don’t know who these people are, but it looks like they’re into gold and post-apocalyptic doomsday scenarios. Could they have some melanoma-related issues as well? I just don’t know…

Here is what I do know:

Businesses hate borders and the petty governments that guard them with their tangles of red tape. Commerce does not like currency exchanges; they are inefficient and act as a tax on trade. So it makes sense businesses would push for a common North American Union and a currency to go along with it.

Governments, believing they could maintain their sovereignty, could even see the benefits of such a scheme. This is especially true since government is infested with professionals plucked from the private sector.

What do I think?

I think this conspiracy stuff is cooked up by crafty devils who make money pitting groups against one another and selling gold to ignorant suckers. Yes, gold should be part of every investor’s portfolio, as the guy on the radio keeps reminding us…

… OK, so the US crashes and pandemonium ensues. How are you going to redeem your shares for the gold they represent? Your broker is face down in a pool of his own blood in some New York Skyscraper. Phones don't work and even FedEx ain't delivering. Looks like your portfolio could have used some reality... So let’s say you actually bought gold coin or bullion. How are you going to spend it? Where are you going to spend it? The neighborhood Safeway? No. It's been looted and bums are living there now. You will be carrying out ad-hoc transactions with scared people, predatory people…

I think we need to pay a little less attention to ball sports and Hollywood and a little more attention to current events and what our government is up to. The forces that move our economy and society are not mysterious, and everything is not a conspiracy. Don’t chalk up to malfeasance that which can be more easily explained by incompetence.

People with ideas make things happen. Sometimes these people have ulterior motives or bad ideas, or both. An educated, well-informed citizenry is the best defense against rotten ideas that violate our sovereignty. And don't forget to stock up on tinfoil...

Mint them from silver, back them with gold and you’ll have my attention.

Otherwise, we already have the US dollar, which is the reserve of value in use around the world. Just tighten it up a bit and stop playing games with its value.

That actually sounds like a good combination. Though it could get kind of weird if the prices got near each other. (IE the intrinsic value of the silver outsripping the amount of Gold it represents.)

This article sounds like another “Staged Moon Landing” article, denying the reality...using the usual “conspiracy theory” tag

The Amero has been discussed in the meetings organizing the North American Union. Also, the Amero has been brought up in Senate meetings and hearings.

Will it come to fruition? Not sure....since those who push it will be labeled Anti-American (an rightfully so) for inifinity. Also, the dollar still has some stature in the world (as some have already pointed out)

Sounds like another Nutty Globalist piece...denying something that has already been documented as happening

IF (huge IF) they would do this, anyone who could add could retire in very short order. This would allow replication of the old gold-silver arbitrage of the post-Civil War period.

Of course, given the last 20 years' product of the pulbic skrewls system, I suppose the arbitrage would be largely limited to older people.

HEY! I'm an older people! Do it, do it! (heh heh heh)

"Conspirator in question."

Are you calling Hal Turner a conspirator?

Because if you are, then I have another question I need to ask of you.

To tell you the truth, I just heard of this guy recently.

Don’t let that stop you from asking questions though.

Lots of things are discussed but so what?
Try telling Mexico that their central bank is to be shut down and all monetary decisions for their country will be made by U.S. bankers in N.Y. And just to rub it in a bit they’ll be using an “Amero” as in American or U.S.

Maybe pipe dream would be a better term than conspiracy.

Hal Turner is a white supremacist who enjoys cruising the internet looking for encounters with men. I take whatever he says as seriously as the Weekly World News.

O.K. Why did you call him a conspirator?

Wouldn't he be more of a conspiracy exposer?

Yea, I know: semantics, but such things are important to me.

Hal claimed that Ameros are being made at the Denver mint. He also claims the US will demonitize the dollar. I call that a conspiracy theory. He’s not exposing conspiracies, he’s creating them.

Smells like tinfoil to me...

"Wouldn't he be more of a conspiracy exposer?" That depends on if he's conspiring something also. Judging by the lack of interest on this thread, I'd have to say people have their own *logical* opinions on why our dollar and our savings have tanked. I'd be the first to say it is a conspiracy.

If the dollar is devalued, Mexico will go down the toilet.

I doubt they could resist any *needed* change if they wish to remain viable.

Given that the cartels seem to be in charge down there and the oil infrastructure is deteriorating Mexico may not be viable anyway.

If the conditions in Mexico continue to deteriorate, look for the NAU proponents to get a leg up in the near future. From the SPP site: "North American Emergency Management. The commitments made in the SPP recognize that a disaster - whether natural or man-made - in one North American country can have consequences across national borders, and may demand a common approach to all aspects of emergency management. Recent experience with hurricanes, ice storms, industrial accidents and the like demonstrate our interdependencies, as well as the need for coordination and mutual assistance in protecting and safekeeping our populations. Moving forward we will: Develop a common approach to critical infrastructure protection, and response to cross border terrorist incidents and natural disasters, across a number of different sectors including, but not limited to, transportation, energy, and telecommunications. Develop and implement joint plans for cooperation for incident response, as well as conduct coordinated training and exercises in emergency response." There are plans in place.

"I call that a conspiracy theory."

I think you don't know the meaning of the word "theory".

What is a theory in your world?

How would you define "conspiracy"?

For your information, these two words are two seperate, individual words that have their own seperate, individual definitions, and that they don't always have to be written as one compound word.

Thought you might like to know.
