My wife received dirt from a Pilgrim to El Santuario de Chimayo Shrine a few years ago, she believes the dirt helped her successfully carry our beautiful daughter to term.
Recently she pass on the dirt to a friend suffering from Cancer, and she did so without any hesitations in hopes that it will help this woman with the battle she is engaging in.
My wife has asked me for one thing this Christmas, that I get her dirt from this Shrine. I have been unable at this time to find a place to purchase and have this dirt shipped to me, so I am looking for a person who is either in possession already of some of this dirt and willing to give it up, or willing to get some of it and ship it to me so that I can give my wife the present she has asked for this year.
If there is anyone on FR that could help me out with this request I would be grateful. No my wife is not unhealthy, nor are any of our children, but she would like more of this dirt should she become pregnant again.
LOL I thought you were taking about National Enquirer type dirt.
You should take her to the shrine for Christmas.
Not possible, if I could afford to get there, I’d pick it up myself.
Is there an address, phone number of a caretaker of the shrine or any way to get in touch with someone in the area?

If McCain wins and I think he will - I may out there for Christmas.
I have relatives in NM and we usually drive up there after Christmas to go to the restaurant right next to the shrine. The restaurant also has a country inn. Pretty area.
The restaurant has a gift shop. The web site is www.ranchodechimayo.com. They may be able to help you out or the diocese (sp?). The family who owns the restaurant & inn owns all the land around the shrine. The shrine is maybe 60 yards away from the enterance to the restaurant.

We also walk around Santa Fe but it is filled with Libs and lots of pretenious artsy fartsy California Libs.
I tell you one thing around Christmas time up there - it gets cold. I guess the elevation for Santa Fe and Chimayo has got to be 8,000 feet or so.

Are you talking about Leona’s, that little take out place right by the shrine? She is an amazing cook. I had the best posole of my life there, and her burritos aren’t too shabbie, either. I had two of her burritos de chicharron and thought I had died and gone to heaven.
No. I know what you are talking about. Never been there. There is a pretty good sized sitdown restaurant and inn within 60 to 100 yards. Rancho de Chimayo.
Another good place in Santa Fe is Maria’s. Not expensive and a nice local place. The Pink Adobe is a yuppie place and Santa Fe - went there but not very good.
When I lived there I enjoyed Maria’s. The Pink Adobe has always been more of a tourist-yuppie place. The Shed is good, as is Casa Sena, as is Josie’s, and strange as it may seem, you have always been able to get pretty good food at La Fonda. Great, now I am going to have to make some posole.
