"... there is something that you know but you don't know you know it. As soon as you find out what it is that you already know, but you don't know, you know then you can begin"
There is a certain enticing quality in "not knowing what you know."If ignorance isn't bliss, then I don't know what is.

I understand Obama once read Adolph's “How to Mesmerize a Crowd”.
To: Salamander
Upon starting to read the study it talks about body language. I have also thought that his body language is programmed to accomplish something subliminally and this explains it. Yep, this stuff is true. I have posted such about his speech and body language several times on FR.

Well, thank you for appreciating the intent of my post and taking the time to read it.
His “effect” on crowds is not something I’d call “normal”.
It borders on unhealthy fanaticism and there is simply *nothing* about the person, himself, that would even remotely inspire that.

The question is where did he learn it. Once you are aware of it you can see that it is learned.

I feel so conflicted...I am laughing at your reply but those things are *horrible*....;-D
I once watched a show [that was filmed in the the 70s...what can I say?] that went into great detail about how they are made.
I think Jack Palance hosted it.

Is there anyway that people can come out of the “trance”, a form of de-hypnosis that can be employed by Republicans?

Seriously, I wouldn’t call Obama’s speaking tactics hypnotic, but some of them are reminiscent of some of the methods used during the later half of the 1800s (e.g. by Susan B. Anthony). ...also used by some preachers and other kinds of speakers who rely mainly on metaphor-loaded rhetoric.

An economic depression followed by incoming nuclear warheads would take care of all kinds of political trances (obsessions/compulsions/phobias). ...hope that helps. ;-)
