By now everyone who follows politics has heard of Joe Wurzelbacher, a guy from Toledo known now as 'Joe the Plumber,' who asked a question of Barack Obama in a campaign rope line, and was referenced numerous times in last night's debate.
Like many of us, Mr. Wurzelbacher has questions about Barack Obama's tax policy, among other things.
So what happens to Mr. Wurzelbacher for expressing his views?
Reports in the mainstream media appear claiming that he is unlicensed (even though he doesn't need one as an employee of a business or as a contractor working on a residence), and that he apparently has a tax lien filed against him.
Not to be outdone, the Daily Kos published his home address for all the world to see.
The Democratic Underground just threw whatever they could at the guy.
Better think a little longer next time if you wish to criticize a Chicago Democrat running for president (or anything else, for that matter).
You might get 'the treatment.'
Update: Atlantic Monthly smear artist Andrew Sullivan chimes in -- in what appears to be part of his full court press to be named honorary Democratic Party Chicago precinct captain -- here and here.
Update II: More from the excruciatingly slimy Sullivan, who takes issue with the fact that Joe is Wurzelbacher's middle name, not his first.
Update III: Plumber's union, City of Toledo go after Wurzelbacher in order to stop him from working.
I’m fairly certain Joe’s business is
going to be pretty good from now on.

Jessica Hughes' Kafkaesque Nightmare
Obama Volunteer Calls Secret Service on Texas Mom
By Mark Whittington, published Oct 14, 2008
Jessica Hughes, a woman living in Lufkin, Texas, in 2008, recently experienced something that could have come out of the pages of Kafka, or in the old Soviet Union, or perhaps during a future Obama Administration. This was because she was rude to an Obama volunteer.
It started when Jessica Hughes received a call on her cell phone from an as yet unidentified Obama volunteer in Texarkana asking her if she was an Obama supporter. Jessica Hughes responded, tartly, "No, I don't support him. Your guy is a socialist who voted four times in the state Senate to let little babies die in hospital closets; I think you should find something better to do with your time. (And then) I hung up." Jessica Hughes was referring to a bill in the Illinois State Senate that would have required medical care to babies born after botched abortions that Barack Obama opposed.
Jessica Hughes was very surprised to answer a knock at the door the next day and find two Secret Service agents on her front porch. Inquiring if she had said, "I will never support Obama and he will wind up dead on a hospital floor."
Jessica Hughes was flabbergasted at the accusation. Fortunately she had an eye witness to what she actually said. The call in question was not recorded and the Secret Service Agents refused to disclose the identity of the Obama volunteer making the accusation. So far the investigation is ongoing.
One might think that, perhaps, the Obama volunteer misconstrued what Jessica Hughes said. But more likely the incident is part of a pattern of Obama sponsored intimidation of political opponents, described recently in an article by Michael Barone.
Barone describes a number of incidents in which Obama supporters sought to shut up and intimidate Obama critics. In one case, Stanley Kurtz, a conservative writer, was on a Chicago radio talk show to discuss his research into the relationship between Barack Obama and domestic terrorist William Ayers. Obama supporters, alerted by an Obama Campaign email, jammed the show's phone lines with angry calls and flooded the station with angry emails.
Picking on Joe is a big mistake in the long run !
He caught Obama in an unguarded moment, and the usually unflappable, cool facade dropped, and we saw the ugly message of every socialist regime--redistribution of wealth from those who earn it to others of the power holders' choice.
It is the very definition of tyranny, and America's Founders decided against it over 200 years ago. Their choice was for private enterprise, private property rights, liberty for individuals, and limits on government power.
You ain’t seen nothin’ yet, FReepers!
If Obama wins your life will be changing in ways you can’t yet imagine.
You have never known socialism. You have never known being demonized, villified and railroaded for your beliefs.
Oh, but you will if the hard-left wins this one.
They have most of the world on their side.
We are in serious, serious trouble if he wins.
And white American males? Forget about it. You will be villified and marginalized as racist, greedy, “selfish” and generally evil. You see, they have to destroy “whiteness” to take the country — and that means destroying any hold on power that white males have. Your knowledge, values and self-sufficiency is a direct threat to the hard-left’s agenda.
This is USA vs. The Hardcore Left.
This an undeclared total war against the American system and way of life by the left — it’s much, much bigger than the measly democrat party.
So why don’t our younger members of the press (the up and coming versions of Bernard Goldberg and John Stossel) turn coat on the other young lefty’s trying to do Joe in ? Can u imagine the goodies to be dug up on the sloppy, drug infested, liquor addled, liberal young members of 4th estate ? I agree freedom of the press and freedom from intimidation is important. But its a lot more important that individuals can open their yaps freely than media businesses. Out the details on these cretins and that will give them pause to do the same to citizens.
I love these two responses in the comments section:
The funny thing is, the guy was playing football in his own front yard when Obama walked up to him.

Quote:
Mr. Wurzelbacher was playing football in his front yard with his son, Joey, on Sunday afternoon when Mr. Obama made an unscheduled stop to go door to door greeting voters and asking for their support.
But that will not prevent Insane Andrew from claiming that this is some kind of McCain operation.

and:
Uh He is no way related to Keating
Here are a series of article excerpts on Robert Wurzelbacher
Article from 1989-

And finally a lookup on Intelius shows the one Robert Lee Wurzelbacher(who is not *ROBERT M. WURZELBACHER*-54YEARS OLD-FROM Scottsdale Arizona-and since The Keating Wurhlebacher was 39 in 93 he now 54 YEARS OLD!) who is SUPPOSEDLY related to Joe Wurzelbacher, and who is currently AGE 33 and from Toledo, Ohio just like Joe despite this search does not list him as a relative.

John Stossel is awesome.
I agree. That would be very nice.
I think its a pretty well established fact that the left is about as lowdown and mean as you can get, they just don’t take criticism very well.
Mr. Wurzelbacher merely asked a question of the candidate, it was caught on film and is an awful embarrassment which the left just won’t forgive.
The whole “Joe the Plumber” episode makes me wonder how many might be lying to pollsters on the phone in order not to offend leftists, I just wonder how accurate the polls are.
He is!
He is exactly what we are fighting for folks!
His presence has been very uplifting for me.
Way to go, Joe!
Uh, yeah...try dragging you out to a field somewhere and running a bullet through your skull.
They won't argue with you, they will simply eliminate your threat and prevent you from "tainting" their chattel.
