Well, what do Joe's neighbors make? Let's do the math.
Here is Joe's house, 1209 Barley Mill Rd, Wilmington
The market estimate for Joe's house is $1.3 million according to Zillow, although if you look at the picture there is no way that house is only 1,800 square feet. (I wonder if the tax man knows this). The cheapest home on the block is 1299 Barley Mill Road at $784,000. Assuming that Joe the Policeman has saved up $156,800 for a down payment of 20%, a 30-year fixed mortgage at todays rate of 6.38% would equate to a monthly payment of $3,915. With New Castle County's property tax and Red Clay School District's assessment, plus insurance adding an additional $1,535 a month, the total payment on this house is $5,450 a month.
To qualify for this mortgage, this amount can be no more than 28% of the borrower's monthly earnings. This amount is $19,462 a month, or $233,548 a year.
So my bad, you were right Joe, your poorest neighbor doesn't make over $250,000. Maybe you can treat the poor soul to a meal at Katie's Restaurant
good for Joe...and none of our business.
“I don’t know about you, but house values have gone up over the years. You might want to check how long Joe has been in this home, investigate whether his wife works, maybe family helped with a down payment... If he’s been working as a plummer 10 - 12 years, doing a large amount of overtime, he may have invested his HARD EARNED funds in something he could actually see, instead of dumping it into a STOCK or BOND... I think your snobbery is showing.... What true American doesn’t work, slave, save, and struggle to own a home like that? People could say the same about our home, but we’ve worked, saved, pinched, and continue to do so each day.
Are Joe’s cars owned outright, or are they new? You are judging only by the outside view, with no actual knowledge of the people involved.
Grow up....
Is my question..........
JUST IN!!
BREAKING!! Joe the Plumber said to OBAMA “YOUR SH#T is my bread and butter!”
Biden couldn’t install a bidet although he probably knows how to use one.
You do realize that is Joe the Senator’s house, don’t you?
Wow. Is that a little class envy you are exhibiting?
I don’t know how I can make this any clearer, but it is pretty obvious. The point is that Joe Biden does’t have any neighbors who make under $250,000 a year. If you click the links, you will see that his “neighborhood” is surrounded by multi-million dollar estates.
I am in no way disparaging Joe Wurzelbacher, aka “Joe the plumber.” The point is Biden is full of fecal matter, and makes stories up, just like the people he talks to at Katie’s restaurant that he mentioned at the debate.
Joe, the Plumber, is from Holland, Ohio, near Toledo, Ohio.
Sorry, I wasn’t directing this reply to you.
Wrong Joe. The address is in Wilmington, Delaware, so this is Biden's house.
Finally, we've gotten to the substantive issues.
We were not terribly happy with all the bs about how many homes McCain owns, and here we are, acting just like those we decry.
Oops, I realized in my post that it doesn’t say this post is about Joe Biden, not Joe Wurzelbacher, aka “Joe the plumber.” Sorry for the confusion.
Joe Wurzelbacher good. Joe Biden bad.
I knew you were talking about Joe B, not the guy from Ohio. The Wilmington DE thing pretty much gave it away.
Everyone keeps missing the fact that Obama is talking about *gross* income. My dad used to make half a million a year as a small tool and die maker, *gross*. The problem is, after expenses, payroll, etc, he was bringing home about $50,000. Yet every year he got taxed on Adjusted *GROSS* Income. I remember it well, because I could never get *any* financial aid in college because of that one number on my parent’s tax return.
Joe the plumber is probably a sub-contractor to his boss, thus he buys his own tools and parts, and pays those off as part of his earnings. All of that shows up on a 1099 form, and he’s grossing over $250,000.
Nope, I didn’t. Guess ya got me......
