The Results of the Troopergate Investigation and the Men Who Investigated Republican Sarah Palin

The results of the investigation into Sarah Palin's firing of Walt Monegan, her Commissioner of Public Safety, are out. (pdf) Here is what Investigator Stephen Branchflower wrote:

As Flap noted in his post on the report, Sarah Palin's abuse of power stems from her INACTION, meaning she did little or nothing to stop her husband Todd from pushing the issue.

However, a sworn affidavit, Todd Palin says Sarah told him to "drop it":

In his sworn statement to legislative investigators, released yesterday, Mr Palin is unapologetic about his efforts to get Mr Wooten fired, but denied his crusade had anything to do with the dismissal of Mr Monegan.

He described his former brother-in-law, Mr Wooten, as a violent, unstable man who threatened the family's safety, used a stun gun on his stepson and unfairly collected disability benefit.

He said he was frustrated that Wooten kept his job and complained to senior officials in his wife's administration. He complained to his wife so much, he said, she told him to drop it.

Although the report also says the actions of the governor were "proper and lawful," the headlines are reading "Palin Abused Power." Or worse, euronews' headline reads: Palin found guilty over ‘Troopergate’ affair.

So what does it all mean? Freeper xzins sums it up best:

Here’s the bottom line: A group of political enemies announced that Governor Palin broke no laws but did things they didn’t like.
Political enemies? But there were 10 Republicans on the team and only five Democrats. You are joking, right?

Not so much.

“Here’s the bottom line: A group of political enemies announced that Governor Palin broke no laws but did things they didn’t like.”

Kind of figured that.

Thank you for the detailed update.

Let’s see… she’s cleared of any wrong doing in removing Monegan, but is found to have perpetrated an “ethics violation,” which is considered an “abuse of power.” Can someone please tell me what “personal or financial gain” Sarah Palin received?

It appears that “abuse of power” was put in there solely to attract the exact headlines that this report is receiving; however, the 1000-page report contradicts the phrase and doesn’t detail any personal or financial gain that would prescribe an ethics violation. Palin gets a manufactured slap on the wrist in a political witchhunt, and it’s all over the media. Obama’s hip deep in causing the greatest economic crisis since The Great Depression, a decade-long voter fraud scam with ACORN, and an attempted overthrow of the Chicago Public School System with a terrorist — not to mention Rezko and indoctrinating his children in a an anti-American racist church — but the Media won’t touch those stories.

Now try and tell me that there is no Obama bias in the MSM; but I’m not supposed to be angry despite being called a racist for the last year by B. Hussein surrogates.

Welcome to Chicago political tactics Sarah. This is how Obama got elected to both the State and US Senate. Obama is bringing the filth, corruption, lies, and intimidation of “Chicago politics as usual” to the nation. Get used to it.

If Gov. Palin had done nothing, the press would have reported “the Gov. protected the job of a state trooper, a family relative, who was illegally collecting a disability and who had tasered a child.”

ISN’T GOING TO WORK. Liberals and the media are attempting to destroy America and are, IMO, no better than Al Qaeda operatives.

AOL leads with the headline, "Panel Finds Palin Abused her Power."

Here's what the evil Sarah Palin did, from the article:

Wooten had been in hot water before Palin became governor over allegations that he illegally shot a moose, drank beer in a patrol car and used a Taser on his stepson.

In proceedings revealed by the report, former Alaska State Trooper Col. Julia Grimes told investigators that Sarah Palin called her in late 2005 to discuss why Wooten hadn't been fired, and Grimes told her the inquiry was confidential by law.

"Her questions were how can a trooper who behaves this way still be working," Grimes said. "I asked her to please trust me, that because I can't tell her details I would ask her to please trust me that I would take the appropriate action if and when I knew what the findings were. ... I couldn't have another conversation with her about it because, again, it's protected by law."

Palin is evil incarnate!

The fact that the Republicans were part of this tells me that this is, in part, pay back for Sarah’s taking on her own party’s establishment when she fought corruption in her own party and ousted the incumbent Republican governor when she won the election. Sad, that when you do the right thing in politics, all too often, the people that should be on your side, aren’t.

Seems I recall that Sarah went after several corrupt republicans when she was campaigning for governor.

you posted, ""Panel Finds Palin Abused her Power."

Aol states under her photo, "Calls the governor's action unlawful"

I've read where it was stated that she broke no law....how can it be unlawful when she broke no law?

Wondering how long it is going to take for “them” to say Sarah is just like Dick Cheney, whom they love to accuse of “abuse of power.

Does anybody care that branchflower broke his contract in this investigation?

The report states that Branchflower "shall conduct its investigation in a professional, unbiased, independent, objective manner, and conduct the investigation at arm's length from the political process."

Yet he ceded control to Senator Hollis French (D) and allowed the timing of the "investigation" and report to be changed to influence the election.

Now that ain't the way the way the Baltimore Sun reported it today. After reading their twist I was convinced that it was another political stunt by the Donks.
