Well, here we are, October 6, 2008. Less than a month before the most important election of our lifetime. For months now we've been hearing about, fearing, and even predicting a host of various October surprises. Well, it looks like we couldn't even wait till October. For in the past two weeks we have witnessed the "mortgage meltdown", "the Wall Street bailout", the first-ever deployment of a regular Army unit to respond to civil unrest, and arrogant mocking of the US by Putin, Chavez and Achmadinejad, complete with Russian wargames coming within a few miles of the Alaskan border. Meanwhile in the Middle East we see 10,000 Syrian troops amassed on the northern border of Lebanon, we have Somali pirates (yes, that is right, pirates) holding 14 ships hostage including a Ukranian ship with over 30 Russian tanks. Let's not forget (although the media apparently has) the Iranian ship, MV Deyanat, which just might be a 40,000 lb floating dirty bomb (thanks to a handful of blistering, hairless and dead nosey pirates). Lovely. So the Russian warship, Peter the Great, has just entered the Mediterranean Sea (another first) to join a handful of other Russian ships to address the "situation" with the pirates. Sounds like quite the party down there. Let me see, what else? Oh yeah, rumors of a "banking holiday" are floating around the internet. Some "terrorist experts" have picked up on signals similar to those not seen since pre 9/11 (except for just prior to the London and Madrid bombings) indicating there might be a major terrorist attack on October 7 (isn't that tomorrow?) which falls at the end of Ramadan and (coincidentally) happens to be the 7th (what a perfect number) anniversary of the US attack on Afghanistan...the last one while AQ favorite friend, George W. Bush, is in office. Meanwhile, our psychic and prophetorial friends are outdoing one another (and have so for months) claiming visions of really fun stuff like massive earthquakes in Calfornia, nuclear bombs on both coasts and Europe, and even alien invasions, all in this week. Wow, what a week. I'm sure I'm leaving something out. Feel free to add your own. In the meantime, you might enjoy REM's song as you contemplate the end of the world as we know it.
Paragraphs are your friends.
Ho-hum... just another day at the office./s
Sorry about that. In the “preview” it looked like I had paragraphs. Oh well.
Huh?
Apparently not.
;-)
I checked with God. He said the sky is not falling. Cheers!
Nothing to see here, please move along and remember a Productive Worker is a Happy Worker......< /sarc >
We are cursed with living in interesting times.
And I feel fine.
It’s so bad, even paragraph returns are in short supply!
Not to worry!
It made for a more hectic read and added to the drama!
If the world’s going to end...
I’d be getting a ping about it.
Trust me.

Oh, and it’s a good thing I’m self-employed. :-)
Is there an “End to The World Ping List”?
Hopefully it is not high volume but I really don’t want to miss that one post.

It may be the end of the world as we know it....but I still feel fine.
You know the trouble with Chinese paragraph returns; an hour later, they're gone. ;-)
We’re about to turn our country over to a terrorist-loving Marxist, and people are worried about paragraph breaks. Go figure.
