I just arrived home after driving my sons to school. Usually we listen to music as we drive, but today I insisted that we listen to talk radio. I like to flip around between the liberal and conservative radio stations as I drive to hear what the talk show hosts and my fellow americans are chatting about.
When I switched to Jay Marvins show on AM 760 here in Boulder, he was talking about Sarah Palin having the intelligence of a 16 year old. Then a woman called in and righteously claimed that his analogy was "insulting to sixteen year old girls"..ha ha ha, aren't we so smarmy smart?
I suppose the female caller and talker Jay do not understand that by insulting Sarah Palins intelligence, they are also insulting the intellect of those of us who love her and her politics. Perhaps they don't care if contempt for her translates into insult to us and our ability to weigh the issues, think, and vote for a ticket that is more in line with our values than some yuk yuk on The Daily Show or Saturday Night Live.
It is a truism in politics that as soon as a republican throws his or her hat into the ring, the talking heads all assume a loss of fifty or more IQ points.
In attempting to brush Sarah Palin with the broad strokes of the Dan Quayle school of "Duh" journalism, the Media is also sending a message to those of us who have been energized by her willingness to run on the presidential ticket, "Listen up you blockheads, boobies, cretins, dimwits, dolts, dopes, dorks, dullards, dunces, fools, imbeciles, morons, nitwits, and stupid twits: YOU American Voters don't get to decide who the next president is. We do! And we will tell you who is intelligent, smart, and ready to lead, even if all evidence points to our guy being a know nothing, immoral crack head, brainwashed in cradle to grave marxism by his earliest mentors to his days in the Ivy League."
Mark Goldblat at National Review Online had some choice words for Gwen Ifill from a fictitious Sarah Palin in his most recent column:
"Ever since Senator McCain made that selection, by the way, Ive been working hard to get up to speed on foreign policy and global issues. The reason I wasnt up to speed beforehand is that, curiously enough, Id been focusing all my energy on doing the jobs Id been elected to do. When I was elected mayor of Wasilla, I tried to be a good mayor. When I was elected governor of the Alaska, I tried to be a good governor. I didnt regard either position as a stepping stone to anything else. I saw no need to go on fact-finding tours, at taxpayers expense, to foreign countries in an effort to bolster my geopolitical credentials for higher office.
By the time John McCain and I take office in January, rest assured I will be up to speed on geopolitics. I will be altogether qualified to be a heartbeat from the presidency. And Ill surround myself with altogether qualified advisers and staff, not yes-men and yes-women. Because I know from experience the very experience my opponent, Sen. Biden, lacks what it is like to make an executive decision. I know what it is like, after the legislative wrangling is done, after the wheeling and dealing by party hacks who are determined to maintain political cover and plausible deniability, to have the buck stop at my desk, to enact a law by my signature, to put my name on the bottom line.
So no, Ms. Ifill, I think Ill keep my seat. You can take down your blank map. I came here tonight to discuss, to the best of my abilities, the international and domestic issues that confront the United States and to provide the American people with an insight into my governing philosophy. I didnt come to convince voters that I could be a Jeopardy champion. If thats the main qualification for the vice presidency, then Id suggest both Sen. Biden and I step aside for Ken Jennings.
I plan to vote for John McCain because I would like to see Sarah Palin as our first female president. I believe she has the strength and the courage to take on the difficult task of busting up the special interests and financial waste that defines our national government. I see her willing, based on her past executive experience, to make the diffcult choices in all areas of Executive Government.
Don't try to convince me that she is stupid and that I am dumb to want someone like her as my Commander in Chief.
I know some many people who watched Sarah Palin at the convention and that was all they needed to watch. They haven’t watched any news since then.
They don’t watch CBS, NBC, ABC or CNN and only Fox a little.
They are still excited about her.
You’re absolutely right...and when they call her DUMB, they’re calling all the people in Alaska who voted for her dumb.
The bullies and the BSers of the airwaves think they can seal the deal tonight.
The recent surge to destroy her is the most ill-advised move the media could have made. They overstep their bounds and reveal themselves for the fools they are.
Let Sarah be Sarah .. Real.. not fluffed up like Obama cotton candy.
BTTT
I’m sick of Saturday Night Live sketches being the way that American Voters get information about politics.
“We just watch the spoof of the Couric interview and that tells us everything we need to know about Pit Bull Sarah.”
talk about being dumb
Jenny
Sure there were answers that she could have been better on, but after cutting out the most damning bits, editing out her correctly challenging the authenticity of a quote, editing down her answer about Russia's and Alaska's proximity to ‘and I can see Russia from my house’, etc; she still looks and sounds a THOUSAND TIMES smarter than the guy who thinks FDR was President in 1929 and that there was Television (Biden for those of you in Rio Linda).
Why no teeth gnashing and hand wringing about THAT lame brained joke being a heart beat away from the Presidency?
Yeah, and when they call her dumb, they call all women, dumb too.
They don't and they seem to pay no price for it either. sad
Even the Pope is allowed a learning curve.
Couldn't they get someone neutral to moderate the vp debate???
You Know. Someone like Oprah?
"She said she will make her own decisions about what questions to ask, adding "the big questions matter."
Ifill's big questions:
To Barack Obama:
"Mr. Obama, what Faith Tradition do you adhere to? I'll give you a clue, it begins with a C, not M."
To Sara Palin:
"How has the Hamas takeover of Gaza affected the chances for a Palestinian State? Please use the time to outline a brief history of middle eastern conflicts, including the fluctuating price of oil, population, topography, and biographies of all Israeli heads of state for the past fifty years. Oh and while we're talking about the Jews, from memory please, sing the lyrics to "If I were a Rich Man" from the musical Fiddler on the Roof."
No, no, Nooooo! The chorus goes like this:
If I were a rich man, Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum. All day long I'd biddy biddy bum. If I were a wealthy man.
You Said:
Ya ha deedle BEEDLE, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
WRONG, RACIST!! Go to the end of the line, Do NOT pass go, you are NOT allowed to participate in this IMPORTANT event. rolls eyes, shrugs, grimace....
Jenny Hatch Videos are hosted on my blog
And oh, btw Katie, Charlie, Bernie, and anyone else who wishes to use Gov. Palin's responses as "too dumb to run for veep, 'cause she may be president" -- I believe it was presidential candidate Barack 0bama who answered the Supreme Court question with, "That's above my paygrade." I'll bet Gov. Palin knows there are only fifty states in this country and that none of them are named New Pennsylvania. Methinks she'd pass a pop quiz just fine, thank you very much.
I read Coulter yesterday too.
“sounds a THOUSAND TIMES smarter than the guy who thinks FDR was President in 1929 and that there was Television”
They are just trying to pull off what they did with Dan Quayle. Not going to work this time. Think about it...1988...Rush only on the radio for a couple years, no internet, no blogs, no Free Republic, no alternative media to speak of except for a few magazines, the conservative chroncicle and the few table scraps C-span was willing to throw to conservative causes and events.
Its a new day. And I have every confidence Sarah Palin is going to do a fabulous job in the debate tonight. I can’t wait to watch.
Jenny
anyone have that radio shows email? I would love to email him.
Sarah puts these mealy mouthed, lilliputians to shame. Stupid people don’t do what she has accomplished. On the other hand, Biden has all the telltale signs of idiocy. Sarah does, and Biden talks about doing. That is the big difference between them, and the big difference between all the political pontificates and successful executives like Sarah. The only good electing a slug like Biden as VP will do is to get him out of the Senate where he hurts us.
“I live in Ohio and no amount of wagging tongues from the msm and the kool-aid drinkers on the left could take away even one ounce of pride I got when I voted McCain/Palin yesterday.”
God Bless, My oldest daughter registered to vote yesterday here in Colorado, a swing state where every vote from females is a thumb in the eye to the main stream press and another nail in the coffin of marxist feminism!

Blow him a kiss from me...

I'm still looking for one of the people (not you, obviously) who mocked Gov. Palin on this, the *geniuses* at SNL, to explain for me why this response from her was oh-so-dumb, yet when Israel uses it as a legitimate reason for its need of our assistance, sales of weapons systems and all that we've provided for its defense, then it is not dumb at all. It seems all I get is *cricket-chirp, cricket-chirp* from them.
