"Fight The Smears" Targets 527 Group pH For America
The Stiletto Blog ^ | October 1, 2008 | The Stiletto

Barack Obama’s campaign got wind of oppo researcher Stephen Marks’ plans to air the “The Real Barack Obama” ad produced by his 527 group pH for America on five TV stations in the battleground states of PA and MI starting this week, because his “smear-fighting” Web site has launched an attack on the attack ad.

Referring to him as a “career smear peddler,” a “trickster” and a “scam artist,” the Obama campaign does not mention Marks by name, but coyly links to an entry on SourceWatch instead.

Actually, they do but if you click on the “Stephen Marks” and “ph For America” links in this post you’ll see that the content of the ad is substantiated. One could argue that what Obama said is open to interpretation - but when you put it together with that “bitter” comment (which he said was also open to interpretation) - the pH For America’s take on it is accurate.

The video started out on YouTube - read the rest of the post and click on the “Stephen Marks” or “pH For America” links to get to the YouTube version of the ad. pH For America aired the ad on YouTube to raise the funds to buy the airtime in PA and MI.

I don't think he is that, because he isnt' smooth enough on his own. But he is being put forward by someone.

I wish his ad were a better production. It sucks. Alas, our 527s are defanged this cycle. If anyone think Bush won in 2004 because of “The Architect”, they are delusional. Bush won because of the Swift Vets.

Obama needs younger staff members.
The word “smear” has zero impact to anybody under 40. I’m surprised he isn’t calling Marks a whipper-snapper.

The YouTube version of the ad is not the one that’s going on the air, per Marks. I think the loooong primary season drained everyone of money and energy going into the general election because I haven’t even seen much from the Swift Boat folks and I thought they’d be all over that William Ayers report.

What’s the “hep” new word for smear these days - my vocab could use a facelift too, maybe.

They've disbanded.

June 1, 2008 -- Swift Vets and POWs for Truth has formally disbanded and ceased all operations as of May 31, 2008. SwiftVets.com will continue to be maintained for historical purposes only by New American Media Online Services (NAMOS). ----------

Make the buys, run the ads. Ignore the obams unless you need to threaten their lawyers back.

Don’t waste time acknowledging their attempt to stop the ads. Every time an ad is run an angel gets his wings. Go make angels.

And don’t look back.

As Harry Truman said tell the truth and they will think it is hell.

I heard an ad on the radio this morning in the DC area talking about a ferris wheel in Iraq, saying McCain wants to foot the bill. very misleading.

I'm guessing it would be “dis”.
As in: “They dissed him in the ad.”

Ghetto for disrespected.
