We all saw Barack Obama stumbling to remember the name of the fallen soldier on the bracelet he wore during the first Presidential debate. It seems there may actually be a reason that Obama forgot the name. The family of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek has repeatedly asked Obama to stop wearing the bracelet because he is using it for political purposes. Crafting the death of their son into a campaign slogan. "I have a bracelet too."
Family Told Obama NOT To Wear Soldier Son's Bracelet... Where is Media?
Jopek began by saying that his ex-wife was taken aback, even upset, that Obama has made the death of her son a campaign issue. Jopek says his wife gave Obama the bracelet because "she just wanted Mr. Obama to know Ryan's name." Jopek went on to say that "she wasn't looking to turn it into a big media event" and "just wanted it to be something between Barack Obama and herself." Apparently, they were all shocked it became such a big deal.
And guess what? The Mr. Jopek, Seargent Jopek's father, doesn't even support Barack Obama's position on Iraq.
Radio host Glenn Moberg of the show "Route 51" asked Mr. Jopek, a man who believes in the efforts in Iraq and is not in favor of Obama's positions on the war, what he and his ex-wife think of Obama continually using their son's name on the campaign trail.
Mrs. Jopek is even more adamant. She has repeatedly asked Obama to stop using her son's death as a campaign ploy.
Jopek: She has turned down any subsequent interviews with the media because she just didn't want it to get turned into something that it wasn't. She had told me in an email that she had asked, actually asked Mr. Obama to not wear the bracelet any more at any of his public appearances. Which I don't think he's...
But Barack isn't listening. Hell, he couldn't even remember the name on the bracelet. But it looks good and makes him appear to be sympathetic to the sacrifices of the fallen. Pathetic is probably a more appropriate word. Read the rest of this entry>>
Mrs Jopek is an Obama supporter.
If she really wants the messiah to lay off, then she needs to go public. Otherwise I’m not buying it.
Hey Mr. and Mrs. Jopek. You told Obama to stop wearing your son’s bracelet but he didn’t. Then he used it on a nationally televised debate and he couldn’t even remember his name right off hand. What are you going to do about it? Does your son deserve this?
bump
The MSM? Forget it. They want Obama to win and won’t say or print a negative word about him.
Not a single one.
If we had an honest media in this country, Obama would be down by 20 pts.
But with the aid of the MSM, he’ll probably win unless McCain pulls another rabbit out of the hat.
——To pile insult onto injury here, the Mother doesn’t even want to force the issue of telling Obama to stop exploiting her son because she wants to see him win the election. Obama is not only taking advantage of this brave soldier’s death, he is taking advantage of the good wishes of the man’s Mother who doesn’t want to hurt the campaign.——
She’s voting for BHO yet wants him to quit using her son as an election pawn....which she never wanted in the first place!!
This is a Drudge headliner IMO. Surely the conservative radio will spread the story. It’s big, because it’s a giant lie by BHO using soldiers as political fodder.
I’m with you. If this is true, plck up the phone and O’Reilly, Rush, Hannity, Ingraham et al will be on it in a heartbeat...
Biden: "Stand up for Chuck!"
Losers.
LOL! That’s a perfect bracelet for him.
I don't believe the father's description of what the mother, his ex-wife, wants. She is a self-described politcal junkie and Obama supporter. I suggest you read the following article that was written more than seven months ago in Feb 2008:
i thought so ..lol
I feel terrible for this family. I bet Mrs. Jopek regrets ever giving a bracelet to that sick crack-smoking homosexual Muslim scumbag, B. Hussein Obama.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama wears a wristband in memory of a soldier killed in Iraq, according to a report in the New York Times. The wristband was given to him by the soldier’s mother, who wants Obama to keep other American soldiers from dying in Iraq, the paper said.
Obama, the Times said, was given the bracelet by Tracy Jopek of Wisconsin, at a rally on Friday night. He was still wearing it on Saturday as he campaigned across the state before Tuesday’s primary.
The bracelet belonged to Sergeant Ryan David Jopek, and the date of the 20-year-old’s death in Iraq — August 2, 2006 — is engraved on it.
‘’All gave some — He gave all,’’ the bracelet says.
The paper says that Obama told the Green Bay audience, ‘’She gave me this wristband, which I’m very grateful for.’’ The presidential candidate halted and lowered his voice from his normally upbeat presentation.
‘’I meet mothers and family members all over the country who are still mourning their children but are also thinking about the young men and women who are still over there and wondering when it will end,’’ Obama reportedly told the audience.
Obama has kept the bracelet, a black metal band with silver lettering, away from reporters, a campaign staffer told the paper.
During their brief meeting with the Illinois senator, Jopek and her daughter showed him a picture of a smiling Ryan dressed for battle, the New York Times reported.
Jopek, a Democrat who will vote for Obama in Wisconsin’s primary on Tuesday, has been against the war from the start, the paper said.
‘’And it’s not over for us until this war is over. I just don’t want any more soldiers to die in vain for something that we can’t solve,’’ she told the paper.
Jopek, a self confessed political junkie, told the New York Times that she had noticed Republican presidential candidate John McCain wearing a similar bracelet.
McCain, the Arizona senator, received the bracelet from the mother of Corporal Matthew Stanley, who was also killed in Iraq, and he has been wearing it ever since.
Please send this story to anyone you know who is in the service, especially overseas. Overseas voters already have their ballots and can start to mail them in. There are, unfortunately, some military personnel who are supporting Obama and who do not get all the information we do here. However, our troops more closely support one another.
I know so many military personnel and this will not make them pleased. If our troops learn Obama is "using" one of them, and exploiting this soldier for his own campaign purposes, against the wishes of the family, this story will spred through the ranks quickly. With McCain they know they have a man who has honored them always.
whew, you better be careful... that obama truth squad might be knocking on your door pretty soon with a court order to attend obama sensitivity training (reeducaton camp).
