With Morton Sobell’s recent admission that both he and his comrade Julius Rosenberg were Soviet spies, “the end has arrived for the legions of the American left wing that have argued relentlessly for more than half a century that the Rosenbergs were victims, framed by a hostile, fear-mongering U.S. government.” For decades, the Left has painted the Rosenbergs, along with Alger Hiss and other Soviet spies, as martyrs for civil liberties, sentenced only for their political beliefs and opposition to the bi-partisan Cold War anti-Soviet foreign policy.

Reformed lefty Ronald Radosh wrote the definitive Rosenberg book in 1984: “The Rosenberg File. In 1997 he published the second edition of his book with the benefit of KGB files and Venona transcripts.
To say it debunks mythology is putting it mildly.
In this case of the Rosenbergs, he said, "Schweikart is right, and Foner is wrong."
A colleague gave me the paper to frame.
Death to traitors.
For anyone paying attention, the KGB confirmed that they were spies in 1992. The MSM keeps hoping that they were innocent.

Liberals of today would probably still think the Rosenbergs heroic victims. Who cares if they were guilty. They ated America as do 2008 Libs, and their aims were the same — socialism/communism at any cost.

In the autumn of 1969 I was a first year student at Queensborough Community College in New York and enrolled in a history class taught by Professor Radosh. In those years I was sufficiently left-wing, at least left-wing enough to meet the hippie chicks of that era.
Three days into classes I ran screaming for a withrawal application. This guy was an unabashed Stalinist and didn’t care who knew it.
Jeez... Hell hath no fury like a Commie reformed.
My US History professor at Montclair State U. a few years ago told us Foner was the defining authority on American progressive era history. He worshipped the guy. Idiot.

I haven’t read Radosh’s “Commies” but I have read Horowitz’s “Radical Son”, it’s like breaking away from a cult, only worse, as The Left is so much bigger and more pervasive. You are rejected by everyone you have known and loved up to that point. Professionally, you become a pariah and must enter a whole different world full of the people you have been instructed to hate.
Never an easy thing, but I guess it beats living on as pathetic leftist princelings like the Meeropol boys—knowing the truth in their hearts: that their own parents used them and blighted their futures in order to serve their cause—but being afraid to admit it publicly because, frankly, what would they do for a living then?
They should have been jailed ten-to-fifteen and then exiled to the USSR.
Add to those Joshua Muravchik's Heaven on Earth: The Rise and Fall of Socialism. Less personal, but a similar narrative.
Why is it so easy to find conservatives raised as commies rather than the other way around?
Its amazing that there is no movement to cauterize this WOUND to America in Hollywood.. Starting with Billy Crystal and the gang of 10.. and branching out to other cells..
