thanks a lot. You made me laugh out loud, which woke up the sleeping baby in my lap. Oh well, it was worth it.

Search has been broken for months, if not a year or more.
It takes about 24 hours for Search to cache the results and report them correctly.
In fact, this site has become so hopelessly broken that I'm thinking about starting a new thread about it.

I have often wondered about posting to people that have double posted as wasting bandwidth. Isn’t the one posting to the double poster, also wasting bandwidth?

More often than not, the search function does NOT work as advertised though. THAT’s the problem. Heck, when I type in a title of a thread that I know exists (from a few days back), it still usually gives me a “no match found” message.

Why would consolidating 3 separate conversations into one longer thread cut down on traffic? I don’t see any basis for this statement.
Perhaps instead we should institute a comment and page view cap for each thread to make sure to keep traffic down.

It doesn't always work, unfortunately. I find using keywords to be more reliable. Many many times I've done title searches that returned nothing only to find the same story later posted earlier with the same title.

Study Reveals Simple "Search" Could Reduce Traffic on FreeRepublic by 38% Let's see, if I already know the title of the article, that would mean that I've already read it and don't need to reread it, SO the search function isn't needed at all.
Just think how much faster FR will be after removing the search function, in fact, a study I just concluded shows that a hugh improvement that will stun your beeber will follow the removal of said search function!
