VANITY: What an OPM investigator just asked me....
Self ^ | SELF

Posted on 09/15/2008 12:39:26 PM PDT by SilvieWaldorfMD

An Office of Personnel Management investigator was snooping around my neighborhood today asking questions about one of our neighbors, who apparently is seeking a high-level position with the U.S. Government.

She came to my door, showed her badge and paper work, and I invited her in. After a flurry of questions about my neighbor's personality, jobs, family life, etc., she asked me the following question:

"Is there any reason that you would think or make you believe that this person would not be loyal to the Government of the United States of America?"

And then it dawned on me.... I asked myself the following:

Has Barack Obama been vetted or investigated yet by the OPM, FBI, etc.? Because, when speaking of 'loyalty to the government', I would think that his past associations with Ayers, Klonsky, Wright, et. al. would raise a HUGE RED FLAG in his file. Aren't presidential and V.P. noms supposed to be rigorously investigated?

After serving in Vietname, one of my brothers classmates from gradeschool applied for a job in the secret service.

He listed my father as a reference.

They came to visit my father and interviewed him for over an hour.

They they did a background check on my father.

“She came to my door, showed her badge and paper work, and I invited her in.”

Sounds like a juicy novella. LOL!

Sounds like a juicy novella. LOL! Except for the fact that I'm a woman and a housewife, yes, this sounds like the first chapter of a Fabio-like romance novel of sorts....

There is no background check.

Is this actually a law or tradition?

Actually, Presidents, Congressmen, and Senators have what’s called a need to know, not neccessarily a Security Clearence.

Their staffs, however, have actual clearances.

Obama is protected from close scrutiny by an inherited characteristic, and because he’s a democrat.

My OPR investigation took place from August 2007 to February 2008. Had to get a full background done for my position with DHS/ICE. My investigator let me know just how much fun he had asking the neighbors about me, especially when he went across the street and told the lady who answered the door, “The gentleman who lives in that house is being investigated for a job with Department of Homeland Security, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement,” and she said to him “Immagracion?” (sp - no, I’m not sure how to spell it in Espanol)

It’s a houseful of illegals - about 12 of them in the house. They don’t even walk by the house anymore.

Wow that's unbelievable! Just by being elected he has top security clearance although he may have been known to deal with known domestic or international terrorists?

That scenario just blows me away!

We mustn't worry though, the MSM will do the vetting for us. sarc/

The lesson is, be careful who you vote for.

Realistically, however, it is the only way the system can work.

We cannot have the military refusing to tell the president where the Army is.

Oh, hell no!

My mind was a racing. "She sat close to me on my crushed leather couch." My eyes couldn't help but stare at the slit in her skirt" "Her legs....."

Just for the record, guys:

The OPM agent was an older gray-haired grandmother-like lady. Not something out of a Danielle Steele novel.

LOL!

The standards utilized to clear hired and appointed officials within our government sadly do not apply to elected officials. I had a friend with the DIS who claimed to be part of the processing of President Clinton’s security clearance - according to him a non-elected official would not have been granted an (S) much less a (TS). All rumor of course, discussions over beer hardly count as verifiable stories - but the point was true - background checks and clearances for elected officials are simply formalities and the records of such investigations can not be made public - exempt from FOIA.

Uh, the requirements to be President are spelled out in the Constitution. A background check isn’t one of them.

I do remember however the police chief chief in Chicago at the time commenting after Harold Washington was elected Mayor that “ I can’t be seen in public with him, I’m not allowed to associate with known felons”. Too sweet.

Is there any reason that you would think or make you believe that this person would not be loyal to the Government of the United States of America?"

I thought you were going to say, "Well, he does have Obama signs in his front yard."

I DID answer similar to that once - was asked if the person belonged to any organization that sought to overthrow the US government (or something like that) and I answered, "you mean like the Democrats?"

They investigator burst out laughing and then slapped his hand over his mouth and gave me a "stern look."

Have they moved yet?

Not yet. I live in an unannounced sanctuary city. I'm considering have the Quick Response Team from Knoxville over for a BBQ - free food and beer - they just to wear their shirts, park the truck in yard, and be real loud about who they are.
