Michael Scheuer is a former CIA agent and analyst. In his 22-year career, he served as the Chief of the Osama bin Laden Task Force and bin Laden Station (aka "Alec Station"), from 1996 to 1999, the Osama bin Laden tracking unit at the Counterterrorist Center. He then worked again as Special Advisor to the Chief of the Osama bin Laden unit from September 2001 to November 2004. In his books and in many interviews he has detailed at least 10 cases where the Clinton administration refused to capture or kill Osama bin Laden when they had the ability to do so easily. Scheuer resigned in 2004 frustrated with both the Clinton and Bush administration's inability to either capture or kill Osama bin Laden prior to and after 9/11.. He is currently a news analyst for CBS News and a terrorism analyst for The Jamestown Foundation's online publication Global Terrorism Analysis. He also teaches a graduate-level course on Al-Qaeda at Georgetown University and participates in conferences on terrorism and national security issues, such as the New America Foundation's December 2004 conference, "Al Qaeda 2.0: Transnational Terrorism After 9/11." He has appeared on Larry King, Hardball, Countdown, Meet the Press, Hannity & Colmes, Brit Hume's Special Report, and also The O'Reilly Factor, Michael has appeared on multiple Discovery, History and National Geographic Channel Specials including "Inside 9/11." Michael Scheuer authored the books "Through Our Enemies' Eyes: Osama Bin Laden, Radical Islam & the Future of America" "Imperial Hubris: Why the West is Losing the War on Terror" "Marching Towards Hell: America and Islam After Iraq." Even Osama bin Laden commented on his last video tape sent to the US Government in 2007 "If you want to know why you are losing the war on terror read Michael Scheuer's book Imperial Hubris." Michael Scheuer is my very special guest tonight on the anniversary of 9/11 from 7pm to 9pm CST. The call in number is 347-826-9560 .. www.blogtalkradio.com/stations/HeadingRight/BarnhartBlog

Michael Scheuer is a complete and thorough tool.

He is also a laughable incompetent.

And, worst of all, a traiot to this nation.

He brags of his 22 years of "experience."

John Walker Lindh wasn't even 22 years old when he did something that Scheuer didn't even come close to doing: he infiltrated Al-Qaeda up to the very highest level - he was physically in the presence of Ayman Al-Zawahiri and Osama Bin Laden.

Self-imagined "master spy" Scheuer got pwn3d by a college dropout.

I am convinced that once 911 occurred the Bush administration did not want to capture Bin Laden. Furthermore, you should not have wanted it either! If Bin Laden had been captured or killed, then the left would have insisted that Bush try him in a court of law and immediately cease any further military response to the attack on U.S. soil. Subsequently, one of the many Bin Laden wannabes would have stepped up to the plate and continued with the terrorist activities just like they did prior to Iraq; i.e. status quo.

Instead, the U.S. toppled two, count’em, authoritarian regimes which had previously sponsored terrorism and conducted a war on a battlefield of OUR CHOOSING (something the left clearly does not understand) where Al Queda operatives freely came to be killed.

Now, the stuffing is clearly knocked out of Al Queda which is frankly far more important than taking out Bin Laden and as an added bonus the Taliban and Hussein are not in the business of sponsoring state terrorism.

I think the best reason not to have bagged OBL right away is so you could ferret out the entire network and roll it up in detail.

That said, it's now about time for him to go room temperature.

Democracies require an 'evil" enemy to continue to tax and spend and shape foreign policy. With the Soviets gone the "War on Drugs" was taking the brunt of spending but it could not absorb the massive $$$ being shoved at it. So I agree that the failure to catch OBL is/was good for carrying out other policies. Not that I agree with them all.

BTW I believe that we will hear before Monday that they got a HVT in the attacks in Paki land last week. At least I am keeping my fingers crossed.

some of what you say has merit but as Michael Scheuer pointed out last night what motivates Osama, Al-Qaeda, and other terrorists and the Taliban is not yes behind us.

Understand that terrorism is a “very cheap endeavor” and since we have yet to stop Osama bin Laden from having access to the 100 million dollars of his money or that of his father he can operate with impunity until he eventually dies.
