If you read my post I said “if”. I don’t know if she believes the earth is only 5,000 years old. If she does, I hope she keeps it quiet.

For me this goes to credibility. How can an intelligent person reject decades of scientific discovery because the Bible says otherwise. Flame away, but that’s scary.

How do you have an intelligent conversation with someone who thinks people and dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time?

AGAIN, I don’t know if she believes this. I just hope she doesn’t.

I agree absolutely such a thing goes to credibility, and if it happens to be true then she should would be very wise to keep such to herself. Of course, I also see no reason to assume it is true, and hope it isn’t.

But, I was not trying to suggest that there was no problem with this attitude, should it exist. It is the specific response that bothers me, and that being about access to the “nuclear codes.” I might worry about how such a person would react to reasonable economic theories and their application given facts known to us right now. I could also worry about how one may handle ecological concerns, or any number of situations really. After all, anyone able to hold to such absurd notions against such a massive preponderance of evidence is certainly capable of credulity. But, nuclear codes? That is just not what comes to mind. I really doubt that just because this person thinks the earth is only so many years old that this means that they are itching to nuke somebody. Of all the possible objections this is the least likely to be pertinent, and smacks of typical leftist scare-tactics and bigoted anti-believer attitudes. While Matt Damon goes on about things being like a bad movie, that is the most Hollywood thing of all. How typical for a villainous politician who is a crazed evangelical type and is seeking to start the end times.
