The Media Plan to Destroy Palin
Right Side News ^ | September 7, 2008 | Cliff Kincaid

Posted on 09/07/2008 9:08:41 PM PDT by SgtSaunders

I was on C-SPAN on Saturday talking about media coverage of the campaign. They double-teamed me, with "progressive" Faiz Shakir and former NBC News journalist Marvin Kalb arguing that Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin should start going on shows like NBC's "Meet the Press" to prove she's worthy of the nomination. I said that would be a trap and politically suicidal.

The announcement has since been made that Governor Palin will sit down with ABC's Charles Gibson for an interview this week. Democrats will be counting on Gibson to spring a trap on the Republican vice-presidential candidate and make her look like an ignorant buffoon on some issue or another.

"Okay, Governor," Gibson could say to Palin, "who is the president of (insert the name of some obscure country)?" And when she fails to come up with the right answer to one of a dozen or so questions, this will be blown up by Gibson and the rest of the media into another "scandal" about whether she's prepared to be vice-president. The game plan is obvious.

In theory she could tell the dufe aforehand that the first hint of anything like that, and she says “The agreement was, no games.”, and walks out.

I sometimes give the left the benefit of the doubt because some of my friends are left wingers. They just have a different way of looking the world, but they mean well. The left want honest government as much as the right. Here comes Sarah, someone who fought corruption in her own party, someone who live a modest life and have actually shown us that she’s against wasteful spending by her deeds.

It be such a shame for the left not be able to see this and see her as some evil witch that needs to be taken out

Good read.

She doesn’t have to do Sunday talk shows to prove herself.

It is a trap and Sunday talk shows are just more MSM BS.

She’ll hold her own and more than a little of theirs too on the shows. She’s smarter than 95 percent of the wastes of human flesh that go on those shows.

Agreed. Watching Obama on This Week, it was clear that he has used these last 19 months to memorize about 100 pages (my guess) of rote responses to questions.

When the question does not fit the response, he gives a set-piece response anyway. If the interviewer does not allow this, as Snuffy did sometimes, he wings it and blows it in a spectacular way, just as he did on Sunday morning.

It takes a lot of work to get this Q&A routine down so that it looks seamless.

Palin is a quick study, but she has a life too, so it is best that she take her time. The nation is down on press at the moment, so sensible people will not rush her. As it is, we prefer to judge for ourselves anyway.

They double-teamed me, with "progressive" Faiz Shakir and former NBC News journalist Marvin Kalb...

Sometimes, but not all times, I wish FOX would do to these guys what they do to us - - you know four and five smug liberal jerks to one conservative. Just once I'd like to see FOX turn the tables, be as unfair as they are...

Oh come on, the left media acts like bullies. On Friday, Washington Week (PBS) was the worst. Four liberal puffed up bullies and one conservative. You’re dreaming if you think the liberals of today are anything like the press they put out about themselves...

>>>>>>The left want honest government as much as the right.

The last 45 years says that is not true. The liberal establishment wants to take the hard earned money of honest folks and transfer it to the less fortunate. Its called socialism. Its been a long long time since Democrats cared about traditional values and beliefs.

The arrogance of these hack teleprompter readers, and talking point mumblers! There is not word one, in the qualifications, as set forth by the Constitution, of needing to be questioned by these partisan clowns! *I* have a news flash for these presumptuous bozoes, to wit, *YOU*, the partisan hack media, need to get over yourselves. *YOU* do not choose our officials, as much as you would like to, and *you* do not get to choose the candidates.

If you think that most of this country, for even one microsecond, really gives a hoot as to where it was you took Marxism 101, and how long it took you to get through it, you are sadly mistaken. *WE THE PEOPLE* will decide who, is fit, or unfit for office, and we will brook no interference from you!!

Consider that some commentators say that, as a candidate, she won't have enough time to spend with her kids. At the same time, they want her to spend more time answering questions on their shows and giving media interviews. It is "gotcha" journalism designed to lure her into a trap. This fact is as obvious as their liberal bias. No matter what she does, she loses.

Easy. Bring little Piper and Trig on with her. Sit them at the table and do the interview. Show NBC that she can mulit-task and dare them to make a snarky remark about it.

I begin to worry about the setup — and there WILL be a setup. Then my sister reminds me of my own tagline.

Except for which religion he is supposed to be.

In all honesty, we think she will, but she does need to show even us she can. Without facing the enemy she will lose some of her lustre.

“... Bring little Piper and Trig on with her...”

What a great idea. I’d watch for that reason alone.

"I couldn't find a sitter at the last minute. I'm sure you won't mind if I nurse Trig and Piper does some schoolwork while we talk." Now THAT would be REAL-LIFE. :o)
