Speech Reactions Thred (Ace of Spades Hilarity)
Ace of Spades HQ ^ | 09/05/08 | Ace

Now, after the fact, the left is convulsing and gnashing their teeth. How could we have allowed ourselves to so demean Sarah Palin as to turn her home-run speech into a genuine star-making speech by lowering expectations so much through our derision!?!

How could you have done that, you ask. That's not the right question. The right question is Is it even possible for you to avoid doing that?, because you do every. Single. God. Damn. Election. Cycle.

It works in my favor, and yet I'm still horrified to see you doing it every time.

Have you ever done anything else? Are you capable of doing anything differently? Even as conservatives snicker at you and tell you to your smug fat faces that you're making a gross strategic error, you continue doing so just the same!

We don't even bother to hide our snickering at you any longer. We don't bother to conceal this basic error from you -- we simply declare it. We don't have to hide this, we don't have to try to avoid tipping you off that you're making this mistake for the thirtieth time, because we know you won't listen anyway!

Lengthy and Profane but a very good read...Reminds of the scene in "A Fish called Wanda" when Otto learns that he's not smart.

It's funny because it's so true.

Every time the libs I know complain about Bush stealing the election, I try to explain that it would be better to concentrate on nominating a candidate that a majority of the people actually want to vote for.

All his holiness had to do was pick Hilary.

“Hilarity? Oh yeah, I picked Hilarity but she was busy in Wah! Wah! Silly! I am so clever!”

The best example of this, in my humble opinion, actually came right after Sarah Palin’s amazing speech to the Convention. Even quasi-pretend-moderates like Mort Kondracke and Nina Easton on the FoxNews-Brit Hume panel had to include in their otherwise positive remarks the obvious Democrat talking point: “it was a great speech but obviously, she didn’t write it.”

That comment just spoke volumes — I was so glad Brit called them on it saying “Wow, that’s amazing... two of you bringing this up right after this speech...” I don’t know if he asked them if they had mentioned that after Obambi’s magnificent speech.

Democrats, MSM-types, and inside the beltway jug-heads just can’t help themselves.

And the Great Silent Majority that still lives out there in Flyover Country are waiting to make their voices heard... in November.

Exactly.

The Demoncraps are their own worse enemy.

Their Party is totally owned now by their extreme (kook) left wing and wholly funded by George Soros. If they would moderate their stances and pick a semi-rational nominee, they might get somewhere.

"I was so glad Brit called them on it.."

The most sincere post-mortem I have seen came from Juan Williams after Michele Obamas' speech.

He was almost in tears- he was so moved. And the speech itself was nothing. He was taken with the idea of her presenting the successful black family image to America...but I didn't see him have any similar emotion for speeches from Michael Steele or any other black conservative. Victim and identity politics is truly sad.

...“it was a great speech but obviously, she didn’t write it.” I heard that the teleprompter rolled on during applause breaks, causing Sarah to in effect lose her teleprompter. Did she stumble? Did she stutter and grope for words? Nope, she continued with a flawless and gripping delivery. Sarah knows her stuff! Prepared, capable and brilliant! Hard as brass tacks and a genuine nice lady. Palin supporter? Nah, not me. :-)

Yes, I heard about the teleprompter — that still didn’t silence the crazed Dem/Lib/Socialist/Media... but who would have expected it to silence them. They know only one narative: destroy this person.

By the way, I like the word you used: “Lady”. Wouldn’t it be nice if that word came back into use... especially as inspired by Governor Sarah Palin!
