Christians are pro-Israel, unless they are Presbyterians.

Thanks for the Ping. I love that little Israeli flag behind her in the picture above.

She is apparently very popular among Jewish Alaskans, I saw something earlier today on FR that the Chabad really likes her!

Or the Arab Christians that call Christian Zionism a “heresy.” That really happened to my church, when we held a pro-Israel conference in 2003.

When I lived in Florida, my house was a mile from a Chabad synagogue, and I visited them twice. I must say that I felt more at home there than in any other synagogue, and I’m a goy.

Did they explain how support for Israel is a heresy?

No, not really. Their equivalents in America probably would have told us to get away from the Old Testament, saying something like “We no longer live under the old law.”

Heresy, at least as I understand it, is a twisting of essential doctrine in something else, such as that preached by the gnostics. I fail to see how the reestablishment of a Jewish state (an event clearly predicted in the Bible) in its ancient and historic home constitutes a heresy.

For me, the restoration of Israel fulfilled a lot of the prophecies of the Old Testament. Unfortunately, there are both Christians and Moslems who erroneously teach that God has rejected the Jews, so they think all those prophecies refer to somebody else.

From all that I've read of, and heard about, Chabad, I would be more comfortable around them that around liberal "catholics" or any liberal-red "christian", for that matter. I'm also a gentile.

It’s certainly a refreshing change from one who for nearly two decades listened to the anti-Semitic rants of his pastor and mentor, Jeremiah Wright, who was also the friend of such haters of Israel as Louis Farrakhan! And, of course, until he was shamed into it, Obama didn’t even want to wear on his lapel the hateful American flag pin. (Sarc.)
