High enthusiasm for McCain/Palin in Maryland!!

Folks, here's a field report from a Republican Party worker who was manning the McCain/Palin boot at the Maryland state fair. She was overwhelmed by the positive response, and demand for McCain/Palin materials. And this is in a traditionally blue state! Read on....

Dear Friends:

Yesterday, I worked the Republican booth at the Maryland State Fair. When I got to the Fair Grounds, I had no idea where I was to go – and asked one of the Security Guards where I could find the Republican Booth. His reply – “That’s easy – just follow all those McCain signs to the Exhibit Hall.” Those McCain signs were NOT on stakes pounded in the ground by campaign workers – THEY WERE IN THE HANDS OF SMILING FOLKS, who were taking them home to put on their own property!

When I got to the booth, I was prepared for the usual “blue state snears” at us Republicans. Instead – we were SWAMPED with folks wanting the McCain lawn signs, bumper stickers, stickers, and any material we could give them. MANY folks came up and said, “I’m a Democrat – but I’m voting for McCain. I can’t stand that Obama person.” More people than I could possibly count came over to tell us how thrilled they were with the selection of Sarah Palin as the GOP’s Vice President. “After he picked Sarah Palin – NOW, I’M A McCAIN SUPPORTER!” This was a constantly repeated statement! Three people in the booth were having a hard time just keeping up with requests for McCain materials. (And the Andy Harris campaign materials.) When I left the Fair last evening at closing, I wasn’t at all sure there would be enough McCain materials to last through Sunday.

Across from the MDGOP booth are displays from: The Maryland Attorney General – Douglas Gansler, the Maryland Department of the Environment and other MD family funded (taxpayer) State organizations. Looking at the folks “manning” those booths, you would have thought you were seeing folks looking at their own funeral! Glum faces all.

We only had ONE black woman attempt to defend Obama. She looked at the book I displayed prominently in my chair, “The Obama Nation” and smiled that I, a Republican, was supporting Obama. Needless to say, when I told her some of the information in the book, she clearly understood that the Jerome R. Corsi book is a CONDEMNATION of Obama – using those nasty little things -- FACTS. She told me that “McCain scares me.” I told her, chapter and verse, why Obama scares me a WHOLE LOT! When she left, we were friends – but her confidence had turned to confusion – and it was clear to me that she was facing real doubts about her once chosen candidate.

The enthusiasm for the McCain-Palin ticket is palpable! It is exhilarating. We do have the right ticket – at the right time! Let us not lose our focus. As Obama disappeared from sight when Senator McCain announced Sarah Palin – and she took the podium and spoke – let us continue to focus on the RIGHT TICKET AT THE RIGHT TIME – OUR REPUBLICAN TICKET! I believe our greatest, albeit unwitting, ally in our battle is Senator Barack Obama himself. We need only TELL THE TRUTH. “And you will know the truth – and the truth shall set you free,” John 8:32. – The truth simply told about Barack Obama will, indeed, free us from becoming an Obamanation!

I believe Governor Sarah Palin epitomizes a lot of Republican women! The Republican women I know are caring people who go out of their way to help others. I was particularly moved when Governor Palin noted that anyone who seeks election to public office should take that office “with a servant’s heart.” A-MEN to that!

In Maryland, far too many of our elected officials have a Master’s heart. They are the masters – and we are their faceless and stupid slaves – a/k/a TAXPAYERS!

WORKING TOGETHER, WE CAN – AND WILL – MAKE A DIFFERENCE! WE HAVE THE BEST TICKET – WHEN WE GIVE THEM OUR BEST WE WILL WIN! OUR BELOVED UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE FIGHT AND WORTH THE EFFORT!

Best regards. Joyce

Sarah is middle America, fly-over America, the backbone of this country. She’s every family. No elitism. No phony baloney. Alaska, thank you.

I was at a party in Illinois yesterday and asked a group of friends what they thought of Governor Palin and McCain ticket now. I had expected to have about half like and half dislike or question the selection. It was overwhelmingly pro McCain and Palin. Only two (out of about ten) were negative.

I think the horrific attacks from the Obama campaign and his news media will backfire on them. People have hope that we have a true reformer in Palin who will turn Washington on it’s collective butt!

I cannot *wait* until our local headquarters gets the new yard signs and bumperstickers in.

In fact, in a couple of hours I’m going to call them and whiiiiiiiiiiine for a bunch of them....LOL

[and them I’m going to prepare to have my Yukon vandalized and myself verbally assaulted on a regular basis...such is the “peaceful, tolerant liberal” way]

I think the horrific attacks from the .....news media will backfire on them.

We find so many public sites that have CNN broadcasting their bias and slanted reports 24/7. It is time to stand up to those that have put those CNN broadcasts on and demand:

Turn the Channel or turn it off!

While it is great to hear the energy from SUPPORTERS, the thing that please me most is the energy from the leftists.
Let no one doubt that 2 weeks ago the left KNEW, they had the election won and it was all over but the crying for America.
Today, just the opposite. The left is in total meltdown /panic mode. They can not even mention Palin’s name without the hatred and fear dripping from their lips.
And everytime one of these hated filled media lapdogs speaks a vicious attack on her, her chilrdren, her baby etc. they lose a few more of the middle of the roaders, a few more women that would have otherwise voted for Obama.

I too attended the state fair this weekend and spoke to a women at the booth about this. I also noticed many fair goers were carrying McCain yard signs and did not see one Obama sign anywhere. In years past all you would see is people carrying Gore or Kerry yard signs.

That’s great! The experience I’ve been having in Maryland has been less than enthusiastic so I’m glad somewhere in the state people are excited about the ticket.

“I cannot *wait* until our local headquarters gets the new yard signs and bumperstickers in.”

I ordered a few items from the McCain site, but after all this incredible stuff this weekend, I am calling my local headquarters, and offering my humble services.

Go McCain - Palin!

I live in the DC burbs which is BO territory. If you take 16th St into dc from Silver Spring, there’s a BO sign on *every* lawn. It’s like a bad nightmare.

Honestly, I wouldn’t count on it. Huge latte liberal crowd. I think the result will be a little better than 2004, but I’d advise any Marylander to put his/her efforts into PA or VA, whichever is closer.

The State Fair is held in Baltimore County, which is Republican. The author also indicates a lot of interest in Andy Harris’ run for Congress, but his district is predominantly Republican, namely the Eastern Shore and part of Baltimore County.

Having lived in Maryland most of my life, I’m happy to see any support for McCain, but given the nature of elections past, he has little to no chance of carrying the state. Baltimore City, and the counties of Prince Georges and Montgomery comprise around 40% of the total state population, but they have been the difference in keeping Maryland the Peoples Republic that it is.

In short, I suspect the interest noted by the author, while encouraging, should be kept in context due to the locale of the venue.

One thing I have found interesting this year in the South is the lack of bumper stickers (and I have driven through 5 Southern states this summer). There are more leftover W and Bush stickers than either McCain or Obama stickers.

I bet Palin changes that!
