“... on this historic day...”
Was McCain referring to today being the 40th anniversary of Dohrn and Ayers doing some of their jacked-up terrorist activities? I seem to recall something about that.
(Yes, I know it’s the anniversary of Dr. King’s famous speech. Remember, he was a Republican.)

Classy of him. So far John McCain appears to be running an excellent campaign. He criticisms of Obama seem to be perfectly timed, yet he hasn't been nasty.
He wasn't my choice, yet he has surprised me. Best campign I've seen a Republican run so far.

I have to agree. I am not a huge McCain fan, but I have been very impressed with how well timed and impressive the campaign has been waged to this point.
I wish John were a lot more conservative, but this campaign has been the fast and responsive type of campaign a lot of us have waited a long time to see.

I think he did this to take away Obama’s “No one can succeed in America” strategy.

Obama's speechwriters may be crapping in their pants trying to fix the tone of his speech to lighten up on McCain.
