Can you guess the reason? How about high gas prices?
Nancy "Nine Percent" Pelosi shuts down Congress and skips town without passing an energy bill. Now the Democrats are pushing for a four day work week for gas relief for themselves and federal employees, even though they refuse to do anything to provide relief for ordinary Americans. Amazing!
Evaluation: Democrats Pushing for Four Day Work Week for Federal Employees
I say a ZERO day work week for over 50% of them, with corresponding pay. $00.00
I agree... the less work the Federal Government does the better. Maybe they should shoot for a 1 day work week. That’s about how much work they do any way.
The truth is that much of DC traffic does not consist of people driving into the District, but people driving from one suburb to another. The move of some major federal agencies out to the ‘burbs has increased this tendency. Not everyone here works for the federal government but in many cases jobs are in some way dependent on the government, as in being contractors who have to remain in touch with government contacts. So as you say, other organizations will also go to a four-day week. Heck, I can’t reach anyone in government on Friday afternoon either.
I have a short commute so I have tried to avoid traffic by going in late and then working a few hours on Saturday, or staying late, or skipping lunches to make up for it. Then I tried cutting back to four long days. I like doing it, but I absolutely could not have done it if my children were still young. Childcare is a real issue and may make this whole discussion moot for many female federal workers.
Why should I get less pay for the same hours? It would be four 10-hour days. Same hours worked as five 8-hour days.
How about a three day work week, and four days off without pay?
I show up and they expect me to work too WTH.
hmmpphhh. they already have a four day workweek, or more accurately a two day one, they’re just there five days a week.
