Rush, Reagan, and Batman Have It. McCain Has It Too and That Is Why He Will Win
The Patriot Room ^ | August 19, 2008 | Bill Dupray

Batman is making a killing at the box office because he has it. Rush Limbaugh has it. Reagan had it. McCain has more of it than Obama, and that is why Obama will lose. Jeffrey Lord at The American Spectator has a terrific piece showing how Americans pick their presidents. The winners have a more robust "Reptilian Brain" than the losers. Winning non-presidential types have it too.

Batman is the cinematic (and comic book) personification of the way Americans like to see themselves. He is a rebel against the Establishment (and likewise with the Star Wars crew and Spiderman.) He is unafraid to act. He is willing to take risks. He could not possibly care less about what "feels good" or whether anything he says or does "makes sense" to a single other person. He runs on instinct. He is here to do the right thing. Nothing more, nothing less. [snip]

Rush Limbaugh is the Batman of the airwaves. The reason Rush is celebrating 20 years on the air and is being rewarded with that great contract is precisely because he has the same qualities as Batman. Rush Limbaugh is a conservative rebel, instinctively so. He believes in the power of the American dream. Most importantly, he lives it, right down there in his own Bat Cave, his "Southern Command." He is completely unafraid to say exactly what's on his conservative mind, and couldn't care less what his liberal establishment critics say about him. Like Batman, he runs on his instincts, hopping into his broadcasting Batmobile daily and saying forthrightly that he knows what's wrong and how it should be fixed.

The brain stem is the oldest and smallest region in the evolving human brain. It evolved hundreds of millions of years ago and is more like the entire brain of present-day reptiles. For this reason, it is often called the 'reptilian brain'. Various clumps of cells in the brain stem determine the brain's general level of alertness and regulate the vegetative processes of the body such as breathing and heartbeat.

It's similar to the brain possessed by the hardy reptiles that preceded mammals, roughly 200 million years ago. It's 'preverbal', but controls life functions such as autonomic brain, breathing, heart rate and the fight or flight mechanism. Lacking language, its impulses are instinctual and ritualistic. It's concerned with fundamental needs such as survival, physical maintenance, hoarding, dominance, preening and mating. It is also found in lower life forms such as lizards, crocodiles and birds. It is at the base of your skull emerging from your spinal column.

The basic ruling emotions of love, hate, fear, lust, and contentment emanate from this first stage of the brain. Over millions of years of evolution, layers of more sophisticated reasoning have been added upon this foundation.

Our intellectual capacity for complex rational thought which has made us theoretically smarter than the rest of the animal kingdom.

It is in the full post and absolutely explains why we elect the presidents we do and reject the others. The losers are not “American” enough for our culture of “Just (shut up and) do it.”

Supposedly it's the part of the brain that controls basic instincts and the drive for survival.

Hey, where are the Rush-bashers? I miss their snide jealousy and the lies they repeat from the left-wing blogs.

McCain indeed has it. I actually like the guy and his personality.

Unfortunately he has a bad habit of veering away from the Rush/Reagan type and veering toward the Obama/Kerry type, which makes me not like him at all.

I sort of agree with this article, but I don’t know if I buy the premise fully. Wanting to defend yourself is not anti-intellectual in any way. McCain has lived life, has experienced things, has accomplished things. He has figured a few things out and made his decisions. Just because he has figured out where he stands doen’t mean he didn’t think about it to get there.

Obama is still thinking about it. Obama has not figured anything out except how you maximize self promotion with the least amont of work. That is the reason that he is absolutely not ready. A few weeks ago, I actually pictured Obama as a formidable appointment from the left. Someone very wrong morally but capable. He has become a small man now in my mind. He is smart enough to parlay his charisma into big positions with no actual accomplishments. And that unearned success has led to self absorbtion but with some insecurity under the surface.

He appears insecure without the teleprompter. He is truly way above his pay grade and way out of his league.

Q. “List three people you would take advice from in your administration.”

A. “My wife and grandma.”

Empty suit indeed.

White American males may think they are like “Batman” but in reality they are a wussy version of Homer Simpson willing to placate at the drop of a dime;fearful of being accused as “insensitive” or “closed minded”. They definitely don't know much and don't own a spine!

I feel sorry for them that they have to resort to a fictional reality to prop up their ego!

I was thinking about this article and it's evil twin at American Spectator...and then PJComix gave me a very uncomfortable reminder, with his Obama logo

Namely, America's Pseudo intellectuals...who root for the midget and the interracial kiss when the chips are down...

I didn't see a head to head of Batman vs. Star Trek.

Reminder- source of the strange hand gestures....Space Hippies episope.
