The link to the Michigan page is incorrect, s/b...
the correct one for Michigan is...
TREASURY - Unclaimed Property
http://www.michigan.gov/treasury/0,1607,7-121-44435-—,00.html
and it consists of a search engine, plus links to (among others)...
Missing Money Free Search for Unclaimed Property
- Officially endorsed By NAUPA and the participating US States

Thanks for posting this. A few months ago I found over $500.00 for my husband from the state of IN.
I was going to post the information but I left for vacation.
Thanks for posting. My name is on the list for my state. Money from a job that I held until 2001.
Ping! You have a ping on missingmoney.com!
I found over $1,000.00 of mine in Texas. $948.00 was from 1989...that’s 19 years ago. Also, I found $250.00 there for my deceased brother too.
Thanks again. I just called the state treasury dept. I am owed 63 dollars.
That site has several bad links.
Try
HTTP://www.missingmoney.com/Main/Index.cfm
It a nonprofit site that allows nationwide searches.
That’s cool!
In the time since SC has posted this link, I’ve found unclaimed money for both my grandma (dad’s side) and grandpa (mom’s side) and ME!
The claim process now is underway, so maybe I’ll get a few nice checks in time for some Christmas shopping :)
How long did it take to get your money?
Nothing yet. I just applied a couple days ago.
See sunkenciv's post #2 for correct information.
Civ, what would we do without you??!
I found my hubby, myself and my oldest daughter.
Probably less than 10.00 from an old savings account.
WOW, cool, found something in my name, old address! I wonder how much it’s worht?
Wow. Thanks. Found $1,200 for my brother! Think that merits a dinner.
Thanks. I found about $44 for myself and some for my dad. Don’t know how much. There are other relatives on some of the state sites, but they’ve passed away.
Note that they can also raid your safe-deposit box, even if you’ve been paying the fees on it, if you don’t go open it every so often. They have confiscated and sold off family heirlooms that way, and crowed about it helping the state budget.
There is no excuse to let it acquire assets by default.
this is common knowledge.
THE STATE gives the unwashed masses in the proletariet ample warning.
It’s right there in the fine print in your local newspaper under “public notice”. Right below the article about your local High School wrestler defeating the kid from the next town on page 17.
Your Uncle left you 3000 shares of Home Depot which will be escheated to the State. They have more use for it than you do anyway.
You would just buy a Porsche Boxster. They will squander it on pensions for union members.
