I can understand Obama traveling to Iraq and Afghanistan to meet with the troops, talk to military leaders, a listen and learn trip so to speak, as the presumptive Democratic nominee and as Illinois Senator. Sure it is odd that he laid out his plans for Iraq and Afghanistan in an op-ed piece in the New York Times one week before he left, but I will not criticize him for that.
I also do not mind his traveling to Israel, our closest ally in the region, knowing full well that he must garnish more support from the Jewish community in America, who pay close attention to Israeli politics, to win the presidential election. I think it would be obvious that he would meet with Palestinian and Jordan leaders as well, in order to appear fair minded.
The problem I have with all these meetings however, is that he is acting as if he is President-elect. This could be part media fault part Obamas wishful thinking fault, but it is wrong nonetheless. We are a nation of voters, not slaves to the main stream media, and no one assumes presidency in this country, not even Obama.

You have MUCH more faith in this country's media than I do..........
Ain't that the truth. Say what you want about Dubya, there's no argument that he's genuine.
Obama... Not so much. Even his supporters have to acknowledge that he says things he doesn't believe just to get votes.
Exactly right. And while it may not hurt him now because he has cover from the MSM, it will hurt him in the fall bigtime with the mushy middle when the Republican 527’ wrap his lies about his head in a thorn like fashion.
We have a whole generation who grew up on CNN, Hollywood and the rest of the ultra-liberal msm. They have absolutely no concept of what's fact and what's fiction, and they certainly have lost all ability to reason or use logic. They can only do what they're told and follow the crowd, which is led by the MSM and the "elite" Hollywood set.
The left doesn't care if Obama lies, it won't hurt him at al there. Where it will hurt is with conservative turnout and independents deciding which way to fall off the fence. My guess is Barack will not be the first genuine Marxist POTUS.
I like a little watercress on my Jewish support. How about you?
Yes, I know the type, they are democrats that vote like dummies ...uhhh...duuu....I have to vote for the Democrat.
There is a difference in this election, and that is that many of these Democrats are not anti-American, they wave their flag proudly. They may be turned off by Obama’s long list of anti-American friends and advisers.
yea yea, ha ha, my mistake!
The original source has been corrected.
“Even his supporters have to acknowledge that he says things he doesn’t believe just to get votes.”
Unfortunately they don’t and the MSM won’t acknowledge it either. Look at the gaffe today, when he took credit for a committee decision that he wasn’t even on.
I’m not worried in the slightest, I hope the moron is dumb enough to promote his Euro support, those foreign commercials will hurt him badly, just like the over Euro exposure hurt Senator Jean Kerry in 2004. One more thing, how’s Senator Obama’s Banking Committee, oh yeah, that’s right, he’s not a member of the Banking Committee, even though he claims to be.
I hope you're right, because all I ever seem to run into are people who are head over heels for Obama. Of course it doesn't help that I spend most of my time in Seattle and Los Angeles. I sometimes wonder if I'm the last Republican standing.
The public isn’t paying attention and the MSM will limit reporting. The public won’t focus on the election until after Labor Day with the exception of the conventions, i.e., the Dem Convention is August 25-28.
It is not about “foreign commercials.”
OK FReepers when are you going to catch a clue? Anyone can rant ... we do it every day here ... going on now for well over a decade. So why can some blogger set up their own website (that may get a few dozen hits a week, if they’re lucky), post on FR, and voila ... all of a sudden become a credible source? This should be prefaced by a âvanityâ tag ... that’s what it is.
Obama incorrectly claims membership of Senate committee
In a press release from Obamas Senate office the day the committee passed the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act, Obama applauded its passage and pointed to provisions included that he had offered in the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act of 2007.
The Republican National Committee quickly responded Wednesday morning with an e-mail highlighting the gaffe. Obamas campaign has not yet responded to CNNs request for clarification of his remark.
UPDATE: An Obama spokesman tells CNN it was his bill, not his committee, referring to the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act that the Illinois senator sponsored and introduced in May 2007. The measure was then referred to the Banking Committee, and passed a vote of 19-2 on July 17.
In a meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu Wednesday, Obama told the former Israeli Prime Minister, I could fall asleep now standing up, after Netanyahu asked him how his whirlwind trip to the Middle East and Europe is going.
Previous to the creation of my recent blog, I had my own commentary website www.raquelwalker.com since 05. It's not about voila, Free Republic, a credible source. If you don't think I am credible don't read my commentary.
I post my commentary at Free Republic because I know its readers would enjoy it!
And this was posted in bloggers, not news! Don't you have something better to do.
“But its not pro-Obama bias in the news media thats driving the effusion of coverage, its the news: Mr. Obamas weeklong tour of war zones and foreign capitals is noteworthy because it is so unusual to see a presidential candidate act so presidential overseas. Mr. Obama looks supremely confident and at home talking to generals and heads of state, so much so that some viewers may find the pose presumptuous as if Mr. Obama believes that not only is his official nomination at the Democratic convention in August a mere formality, so is the November election.”
As if??
