You knew this was coming.
Wall Street analysts late yesterday downgraded the stock of ABC, NBC, and CBS to "Paparazzi" status in light of the widespread perception that in covering presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama's trip to Europe and the Middle East, that they had lost a substantial amount of objectivity and were instead focusing more on the candidate's image and star power.Jeffrey F. Goldberg, an analyst with Bear Stearns, said, "You can't have NBC, for example, telling us what kind of sunglasses Obama is wearing or spending so much time setting up a photo-op [see below] of the candidate sitting in a Humvee looking like some kind of stud muffin, while the troops are waiting to eat lunch, and expect to maintain the higher standards required of a bona fide news network."
The best part is the reaction of the editor of The Star tabloid.

The vehicle Obama is sitting in looks like an MRAP. It’s too tall for a HMMWV, and they wouldn’r dare send this clown out in anything else, would they?
It is an MRAP.
Crap, you beat me to it, but that’s priceless!
HELLO MASTERCARD, perhaps you can use this??
Is Paparazzi above or below my ranking of the networks as "$20 hookers"?
perfect! So true!
So that's what Whitesnake's lead singer is doing these days? Guess those alimony payments to Tawny Kitaen are still taking their toll ... :^)
Caught that one huh? Nice work. You get all the points for the unasked ‘80s rock trivia question.
Obama Makes Campaign Swing through Europe, Middle East
July 20, 2008
Democratic presidential hopeful, Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.), took his campaign east over the weekend. The three major television networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) accompanied him to document this historic occasion.
Obama characterized the move as a bid to reach out to all of the 57 states and bring them the same message of hope and redemption that I have shared with the three dozen or so states within the continental United States.
This is definitely thinking outside-the-box, gushed ABC News anchor Charles Gibson. Lesser men may be content to be president of America. Senator Obama has a real chance to become king of the world.
NBC anchor Brian Williams was similarly effusive. We are on the brink of a new era for all mankind, Williams said. This is the earliest that a president-elect has ever started. Its obvious that an Obama administration will hit the ground running. I am so very fortunate to be allowed to document this historic occasion.
He called me sweetie, CBS News anchor Katie Couric giddily boasted. I get goose bumps remembering the moment it happened. I felt like I was Mary Magdelin.
Polls in several European states show Obama has a substantial lead over presidential rival Senator John McCain (R-Ariz). Seventy percent of Italians, 67 percent of Germans, and 65 percent of the French say they will vote for Obama.
