The whole Wendy - Phil Gramm/ Enron/ MTBE story

I was reading how Phil Gramm couldn’t be more pleased with the economy while he upset John McCain greatly by saying so being McCain’s top economic advisor. Its funny but if Phil Gramm had stayed in the senate, he would likely be the Republican nominee for this presidential election cycle because he was such a favored senate leader until he quit a few days before September 11, 2001, 911. I remember his announcement about not going to seek reelection coming as kind of a shock to me personally, but not really. It was like when Enron crashed a few months later, I expected it but couldn’t believe it actually happened.

See Phil and me go way back. In 1990, congress lead by the lobbing efforts of Ken Lay of Enron, and then president George Bush passed a law requiring that an additive to gasoline called MTBE be added to gasoline supplies nationwide. Enron was to be the future manager of bringing MTBE to market to be used at ratios of 10 and 15 percent per gallon of gasoline. Being as MTBE was very cheap to produce meant Enron stood to make a great deal of money, which they did, for a while. To read the actual letter I sent Phil, go to - http://pr.cannazine.co.uk/content/view/448/27/

But see the way MTBE worked was it caused gasoline emissions of formaldehyde to worsen significantly. So although it was supposed to help clean up our air quality, it actually made it worse. The reason it was accepted as being so good for air quality was because formaldehyde is a VOC, a Volatile Organic Compound. And the smog that MTBE was supposed to reduce was made up largely of NO’s, Nitrogen Oxide that originated from coal burning and diesel emissions. When VOC’s and NO’s mix in the sun’s rays, they form low level ozone. Low level ozone is very dangerous to breath but it is largely invisible except in cities with the worst pollution where it becomes and orange haze. But it is still ascetically better to look at then the old gray brown smog that MTBE dissolved into low level ozone.

Since low level ozone wasn’t regulated the same way smog pollutants were, the big polluting industries that created the smog were off the hook on having to spend money to clean up their act. So for years we’ve been being told that our air quality is better when it’s worse while big polluting industries have been sitting back foregoing updating their infrastructures with the latest environmentally friendly technologies.

What all this has to do with Phil Gramm is that he and his wife Wendy, who was on the board of Enron, are the masterminds behind putting together this plan to use the atmosphere as a chemistry lab to get rid of pollution by mixing together this deadly recipe of pollutant to make them appear to be gone. They’d spent the years before 1990 working together changing federal regulations, her as Ronald Reagan’s Commodity Futures Trading Commissioner and him a senator from Texas, laying the framework needed to support MTBE being produced from natural gas and isobutylene, a byproduct of refining crude oil. This was the foundation their dream child gasoline additive needed to make it feasible that the mandate to add it to fuel supplies could be met without the government’s own regulation making it impossible or not profitable to do so.

Then once the Clean Air Act was amended to require MTBE in our gasoline, there needed to be refineries built to produce enough of it to meet the schedule laid out in the new clean air rules which required a great deal of new refining capacity to be needed in a short period of time. Later the whole deal seemed to almost fall through when it looked like there was no money to pull it all together with. But in a last minute deal struck by Phil Gramm between the Federal Reserve, Saudi oil companies, and the United Bank of Switzerland for a trillion dollar loan to get the MTBE program up and running in one years time, money that had originally come from the Soviet Union’s failed economy looted and laundered though UBS by former KGB agents which now was supposed to be going to Halliburton to build MTBE refineries. So the money itself was so dirty, its lenders weren’t looking as hard as they should have been at how it was going to be used because they just wanted it put to work. With Gramm and his MTBE cult on the brink of their dream coming to a crashing halt, they weren’t all too interested in where it came from either.

A year later, it was being hailed as the largest expenditure of financial capitol and engineering feats in such a short period of time in the history of the human race. The truth is however that it didn’t cost as much as they lead the public to believe. Much of the capacity to produce MTBE was already in control of the people who were supposed to be using the trillion dollars to fabricate new refineries. The money was actually used to underwrite a whole new way of doing business on Wall Street, a pyramid scheme of financial gimmicks that’s crashing in on itself now as it takes our economy with it.

See what went wrong which lead to my knowing Phil Gramm personally was that MTBE exhaust fumes made me deathly ill. Being as I live in a highly traffic community, I had to fight for every breath I took which turned into a war for my survival where I learned everything I could about MTBE, about how to protect my health from it and where its politically weak points were so I might have a chance of forcing its use to end. Once I’d weeded through the lies that supported its use, I found what it really did, how it mixes with other pollutants and causes low level ozone. Then I found science that proves that low level ozone formation effects weather patterns dramatically.

We were having a nationwide drought at the time. I had already felt sure MTBE was the root cause of it. So armed with the government’s own science that showed it was behind the cause of the drought, I went to a newspaper reporter who after asking questions around Washington about what I told her, the White House and a couple government agencies come out saying MTBE had to be banned from use right away. Its use was stopped while my health improved and the drought ended.

The problem was that the trillion dollar loan was being paid off slowly using sales of MTBE through Enron to do it. It wasn’t due to be paid off until May of 2006. But there was even more of a problem than just the trillion dollar loan going into default if MTBE use stopped. The money itself was spent illegally by a lot of people. In fact MTBE would never have been added to gasoline in the first placed except for all the people who took a chunk of the money who then supported the Clean Air Act. Since the money was used to prop up a kind of underground corporate banking system that did special favors for all MTBE’s supporters, which there were many, if the loan had trouble that caused the Federal Reserve to have to turn to US taxpayers to settle, Americans would start to look into what the money was spent on.

So needless to say this sent Washington, both Democrats and Republicans all of who were involved in these shady dealings, into a panic. I stopped getting sick when they ended MTBE’s use but then got suck again when they started using it because they were afraid of the loan having troubles would lead back to almost everyone in Washington having in one way or another gotten a cut of it.

When the drought ended, or really every time they stopped using MTBE after starting up again trying make payments on the loan, water vapor that had been sent into the upper atmosphere by mixing with MTBE’s gaseous emissions came back down all at once. So millions of tons of water vapor that had been slowly removed from our groundwater tables being kept aloft in the atmosphere as long as more MTBE gas was being emitted to support it there, like with a hot air balloon., came back down all once when the flow of gas was cut off. When this happened, it caused a lot of damage to property and loss of life, to say the least.

But there was a another problem that could not be washed away from our soil as flood levels receded. Adding all the groundwater weight back to our soil quickly after it had been slowly lifted over long periods of time caused catastrophic earthquakes in other countries.

Now with all this going on, the likelihood is that no one would have known about any of it if it weren’t for me. And my story was so unbelievable, the American public wasn’t going to believe it easily. The first group be reigned in from repeating what I told them was the national press corps. Since they’d failed to tell the MTBE story when it first came out in 1990 where it never would have made it to market if they had, they were easily coerced into covering up what happened. But the people in Washington who set up the MTBE program in the first place were well aware of what was going on. And when they forget, I promptly reminded them, Phil Gramm being one of them.

After a couple of years of them trying to keep MTBE in gasoline while I was always able to scare them into taking it back out because when it was in use, it was easy for me to point out how it affected weather patterns because it followed Monday to Friday rush hour traffic cycles always changing on the weekends. And every time they took it back out, they started losing money again while it was getting more and more expensive to cover up why and how they were doing it all.

When 911 came along and distracted the American people from anything negative I might say that implicated the President in a scandal, I was on the verge of success in making my story a national issue. I had found a way to successfully tie a missing intern named Chandra Levy whose murder was being blamed on a congressmen from California named Gary Condit. I had found evidence that lead back to MTBE being a motive for why someone wanted to make it look like Condit killed her. In fact I was a matter of hours away from successfully exploiting that story when the highjacked jet liners started hitting our buildings. And the first thing out of my mouth when I saw what happened was my cursing Phil Gramm at the top of my lungs because I knew that there was no way anyone would ever listen to me about what I had found out about Chandra’s disappearance after the war on terror began.

See it was emails I had sent to him a week before that forced a stand to be taken against what I was going to do with the information I had uncovered, which then Gramm promptly announced he was leaving the senate to work for UBS, which was who was owed the trillion dollars while he had been the designer of the program that got them to agree to lend it to us. So he was effectively removing himself from being able to answer questions about MTBE in the future because it would conflict with his new employers interests. But that’s not where my stalking of Phil Gramm ended.

See about that time, designs were being laid for how to get a amendment passed in a new energy bill that would give liability waiver for all the trouble MTBE had caused placing the responsibility instead on US taxpayers. To do this, they needed to do two things, to be using MTBE when the amendment was debated and voted on through the House and Senate, and then while being signed by the President. This was crucial because if it wasn’t being used and the truth was discovered, a lot of unpleasant question would arise that answering of would be hard when they were secretly trying to create a safe harbor for oil companies for an additive to gasoline that wasn’t even being used anymore. That was the second condition needed to pass the bill, no one could know about the liability waiver because there was no way the American people would support it while too much noise about MTBE might lead back to what was really going on.

So I would be living my life happy and healthy again. Then I would start to get sick again. I would try to find out what was behind then putting MTBE back in gasoline. Then I would make as much noise as I could about it and they would stop using it again. And the reason kept coming up the same, the liability waiver was always starting to be very quietly debated through congressional committees when MTBE use started back up. So it was simple for me. If I got sick, I started making lots of noise about the liability waiver and they would take MTBE back out of gasoline because their success demanded extreme secrecy.

One thing lead to another through my frustration as well as theirs where at one point my life was threatened by my own Senator Warner of Virginia. The threat backed up by George Allen, although Allen never stepped up and made any intentions against me clear, Werner just assured me that he had Allen’s support in seeing to it that my demise would follow my repeatedly frustrating their efforts to pass the energy bill. A few months later, I started getting sick again and knew why. I attacked what they were doing trying to pass the liability waiver into the energy bill. But instead of getting killed, they stopped what they were doing and the air where I lived quickly became void of MTBE emissions. This seemed to me to have been too easy. It signaled that they had a plan B, that they had only tried to pass their legislation to see if they had successfully scared me off.

Since it didn’t work, I figured they had retreated to plan B, which I had no idea what it was but I feared for my life because MTBE was so dangerous for me to be exposed to that even if I let them pass their energy bill, I would be putting my life on the line by doing so. But that’s not how I am anyway. I love a good fight and jumped at their challenge with enthusiasm.

After a couple of sleepless nights, I realized what their plan was. See if it hadn’t been for Saddam Hussein invading Kuwait in 1990 while the Clean Air Act was being debated, MTBE wouldn’t have had a chance of being legislated to be added to our gasoline. Since the war distracted the media and US citizens from everything else, the new laws glided through congress onto president Bush’s desk with almost no one knowing what MTBE was. Then again as the topic of MTBE almost hit our front pages when I was well on my way to exposing it, 911 distracted the nation again.

When I looked at how old man Bush let Saddam invade Kuwait and how Saudi Arabia played such a big a role along with Phil Gramm in bringing MTBE to market where all of the terrorists in the 911 attacks were from Saudi Arabia, I had to figure the reason Bush was talking so intently about invading Iraq was because war was the accepted way to keep the American people from finding out the truth about MTBE, which on top of all the damage MTBE had caused, the truth lead back to questions about what the trillion dollars was really used for. So it wasn’t hard for me to figure that a new war was going to be used as cover for protecting the MTBE legislative process. And I figured that after they had gone through all the trouble of starting a war to get what they wanted with my being the only obstacle to making their corrupt dreams come true, my life would be at serious risk. So I came up with a plan.

At the time, Enron had long ago crashed while its online energy trader that managed MTBE production logistics and sales had been given to UBS to manage so they could oversee the loan being paid off so even if they had to use their own money to supplement lost MTBE profits from when it wasn’t being used, they could cover the books in a way that no one could easily detect the truth from. Also, the traders in the energy unit itself were the only people who knew how to stop and start using it while making the books look like it was always in use. They were the people who crashed the company and shredded their records while giving themselves big bonuses at a time when everyone else connected to the company lost their shirts.

I knew who was behind managing this nefarious scheme and where to find them. So I picked one of their head attorneys and started to stalk him with emails written metaphorically about what I knew they were involved in so that no one would know but him and whoever was involved in what they were doing what I was talking about. First I tried to reason with them like I was willing to play as long as I got a cut of the take like an extortionist. When I got no response or visit from the FBI, I knew they were hooked and could do anything about it. I played with them for a while and them threaten to kill the attorney. That was what my plan was leading up to.

I knew they couldn’t have me arrested because that would put me in federal court defending my actions which would mean telling what they were doing in a public record. But I also knew if they got desperate enough, it would be better to risk arresting me hoping they could use the court system to control me rather than to do nothing, which to me was better then sitting around waiting to see if the government was serious about killing me. And I knew something they didn’t know that I figured they would find out if they started looking for a way to make sure I couldn’t use the courts to my advantage once they had me arrested, that old man Bush had appointed a federal judge in Houston just as MTBE use started who had helped set up Enron’s energy online trader. So I had a pretty good idea they would go for the bait figuring they could send me to him thinking he would take care of everything for them.

I continued to stalk UBSWenergy, the new Enron energy online trader, or MTBE grand central, for a few months ripping the company to shreds emailing everyone they did business with, even where they ate lunch, about what they were doing and how I had been threatening to kill them but they hadn’t done anything about it. That’s where Phil Gramm comes back in the game as a Vice President at UBS.

I started to worry the employees at UBSWenergy were afraid to have me arrested when I needed them to, that they might not be telling anyone about what I was doing because they had already been through so much at Enron that they didn’t want anymore trouble, and then the new crimes they were involved in at UBSWenergy. But Phil Gramm is one of the most arrogant people who ever lived. Don’t get me wrong. I admired him greatly at one time. But then if there was ever a more arrogant personality than him, it might be me.

So anyway, I sent him a letter through the US mail outlining almost every detail of the story I just told you and threatened to kill all the heads of UBS over it. Of course it was obvious by reading the letter that the threat was gratuitous. I waited and I got no visits from the FBI. That’s when I knew my trap was perfectly set. See I wasn’t trying to just get arrested. I was trying to get arrested right as congress started to debate MTBE preparing to try to pass the energy bill leading up to the war in Iraq starting. What I was trying to get them to do was put their arrogant heads together when they were desperate enough to figure out they could arrest me when they had no other choice. Then they could send me to Houston to the courtroom Ewing Werlein, MTBE and Enron’s best friend on the federal bench.

I figured Phil Gramm had the motive, attitude, and ability to make my plan work. When I got no quick response to the threatening letter, it would show later that the only reason the letter was seen as a crime was when a crime was needed to cover-up why they really wanted me removed from the community.

On March 5, 2003, the FBI crashed through my doors with a copy of the Phil Gramm letter and seized my computers. They would have arrested me but the first thing I told them was that I had been expecting them and that since they were there, it meant the MTBE debate had begun in discreet committee hearings on Capitol Hill which would make it easy for me to prove why they were really arresting me. They took computers and left with a stiff warning not to bother anyone about MTBE again.

I left out the backdoor of my home taking backwoods paths to my local library where I found out on the internet that hearings in House of Representatives committees over the liability waiver for MTBE had begun that morning about the time the FBI left with my computers. Just after I found what I was looking for, a mammoth of a man wearing sweat pants and top looking out of breath and out of place with muddy shoes came in the library who seemed to calm down as he caught sight of me. On the way back home, there were track marks in the mud the size of which my foot could never have made on the path that only I knew about.

I later caused the energy bill debate to stall just before it was voted on in the senate by sending email to the hometowns of senators who spoke about MTBE on the senate floor to anyone I could find addresses for as I watched them squirm over it live on C-SPAN. The following day I was arrested for the emails I sent to UBSWenergy employees in Houston even though they had moved to Connecticut by then and the letter to Phil Gramm was sent to his UBS Park Avenue office in New York City. And sure enough, I was handed over promptly to the courtroom of Ewing Werlein when I was transferred to Houston by the US Marshals. And boy oh boy did they not see me coming. To read the actual letter I sent Phil, go to - http://pr.cannazine.co.uk/content/view/448/27/

I bet ole judge Werlein, the hanging judge of the Houston federal courthouse still has sleepless nights wondering when what he tried to do to me while in his custody will put him in front of one of his own colleagues where his days and nights are spent in a cell with a Mexican who doesn’t speak English. The fed doesn’t like white guys to get to close to each other when locked up. They believe they’ll be able to too easily compare notes about how the system works. So they put them with Mexicans who don’t speak English whenever they can. It was OK for me because I liked helping them learn how to speak it. But I used to send Ewing letters explaining how hard it was going to be for him to adjust to the conditions there.

He seemed to hate Mexicans the way he would hand out upwards of 10, 20, even 25 years to guys who had done nothing but cross the border into our country. I watched in horror as they begged him for mercy where he coldly without emotion gave them their sentences. I often reflect back on what I witnessed him doing wondering if he did it to intimidate me where once I got in front of him, he threatened to give me 43 years in prison because I was demanding that he adhere to the law rather then use his court to abuse me for his friends in the MTBE industry.

And all the while I was sending out letters around the country about what was being done to me which lead to the truth about the energy bill being exposed and their efforts to use the war as cover to sneak a MTBE liability waiver passed the American people being a failure. But still whenever they tried to pass their crooked legislation even though I was still right on their tails about it, just like when the Iraq war ended as I was arrested, then the insurgency started when they tried to pass their energy bill. And every time they tried again, the insurgency was seeming to be allowed to get worse which put the focus of the front pages of newspapers throughout the world on Iraq again.

When I was done, the amendment for MTBE producers in the energy bill was exposed with lawsuits being filed across the nation against the oil industry for MTBE polluting groundwater. And good ole judge Werlein couldn’t get me released and sent home quick enough, although 13 months after I was arrested, after he had repeatedly tried many desperate measures to shut my down operation, some that were life threatening. So needless to say, I would like to see justice served over these matters while focusing directly on Ewing Werlein and Phil Gramm. And I will have justice, soon, very soon.

If Barack Obama is elected, the justice department will start to lock up real criminals again instead of letting them run it like Bush with Alberto Gonzales who worked with judge Werlein setting up Enron’ energy trader. Yes sir, Barack Obama. All eyes will be on you sir to see if you’re just another Enron style crook or the read deal. Clinton fell in the wrong crowd. Bush was born into them. I think Cheney has been one for centuries feeding off the blood of mortals to sustain his immortality when there’s not enough quail to hunt down to support his dark soul’s needs.

Justice is coming my friends. Sooner or later people will listen to me and I’m going to tell them exactly who’s responsible for all the misery in the world today and why. And you will all spend the rest of your lives behind the same bars you built to house people like me, people who told the truth about people like you. That will be day of monumental history. I mean it. They will likely carve a mountain up like they did to Mt. Rushmore of you guys in chains to make sure the world never forgets how corrupt you were able to let yourselves become when you had so much good going for you before you decide that your arrogance came before everything and everyone else.

So take a good hard look in the mirror at your pretty clean shaven faces because the razors in federal prison are impossible to get a decent cut with that doesn’t draw blood. In fact you might want to use your power while your still in office to order another brand. While you’re at it, you might want to step up the meager diet you’ll be eating when you get there. Oh yeah, there’s no money in the budget to do it with. You stole it all already. Man, you guys have certainly made a mess for yourselves haven’t you. I almost feel sorry for you. But the feeling is quickly overcome by glee at the thought of you paying for your crimes instead of me. Wait a minute, let me double check. Nope, no sorrow here, just rejoicing.

Man you idiots should have just shot me when you could still get away with it. Live and learn. I know I did. To read the actual letter I sent Phil, go to - http://pr.cannazine.co.uk/content/view/448/27/

Why do so few people know the details of the story of MTBE, the other global warming theories not connected to Al Gore who isn't even a scientist, and how the ethanol in gasoline we use is anhydrous added as an oxygenate, not for its fuel qualities.

What a load of drivel. MTBE actually caused the driver to get MORE miles per gallaon as opposed to trash ethanol which yields less.

In 1979, ARCO Chemical built the world’s first chemical plant designed specifically to produce methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), an additive used to replace lead and enhance the octane of oxygenated fuels. In 1994, the Channelview plant was the largest MTBE facility in the world, and ARCO Chemical supplied MTBE to most of the major gasoline manufacturers in the United States.

To a great extent, this article reads like one of those Nigerian e-mails telling me that I am chosen to recieve 1500000 million dollars US.
-In 1990, congress lead by the lobbing efforts of Ken Lay of Enron-
-clean air rules which required a great deal of new refining capacity to be needed in a short period of time-
I’m sure there are other examples, but this article is too long and poorly written to hold my interest.

What a crock.

Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether is a source of oxygen added to hydrocarbon based gasoline to insure more complete combustion. That was intended to reduce pollution.

MTBE was removed from gasoline because it is miscible with water and would migrate into the ground water if there were a leak in an underground gasoline storage tank. In ground water it smells bad and has an unpleasant taste.

MTBE was replaced with ethanol as a source of oxygen in gasoline. Ethanol is also miscible with ground water, but it tastes better.

To the best of my knowledge, there never have been any health problems associated with MTBE in anything approaching the concentrations actually used.

MTBE has a lower vapor pressure than ethanol, so less of it evaporates into the atmosphere before combustion. It has a higher energy content than ethanol and it is made from natural gas, not from corn.

True. Somewhere in my memory was the ARCO out in California started using MTBE after leaded gas was banned. And as far as I can recall, the Feds in the early 90s required either MTBE or Ethenol to be used as additives during ozone season (May to Sept) MTBE was mostly a West Coast thing.
