Last year, Barack Obama joined MoveOn.orgs Eli Pariser in spitting on General Petraeus uniform and service ribbons. Obamas solicitation and acceptance of MoveOn.orgs endorsement lent Obamas name to MoveOn.orgs credibility, thus reinforcing the following insult.
Now, however, Obama wants to appeal to our Armed Forces and Americans who respect our Armed Forces by handing General Petraeus a tissue with which to wipe Obamas spittle from his uniform. Per Obama Moves on MoveOn.org, (http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/07/obama-moves-on.html)
Almost lost in the Wes Clark haze of Mondays patriotism speech in Independence, Mo., was this line from Sen. Barack Obama:All too often our politics still seems trapped in these old, threadbare arguments a fact most evident during our recent debates about the war in Iraq, when those who opposed administration policy were tagged by some as unpatriotic, and a general providing his best counsel on how to move forward in Iraq was accused of betrayal.
That last clause is a direct shot at the liberal group MoveOn.org, which greeted Gen. David Petraeus congressional testimony last fall with a full-page ad in The New York Times that asked the question: General Petraeus or General Betray Us?
Obama, however, is still accepting the endorsement of MoveOn.org, which shows his support of General Petraeus to be yet another set of empty words whose sole purpose is to sound good. Barack Obamas and Eli Parisers insult to General Petraeus cannot be cleansed away with lip service. Unless Obama repudiates MoveOn.orgs endorsement while denouncing the individuals responsible for this ad, it can be cleansed only in the total ruin of Obamas campaign and Presidential aspirations.
